Perhaps it's a bad thing, but I've found that ever since I've joined TalkBass, I can't stand any other forums due to their software usually being sub-par in comparison. I know it costs a fair amount to keep this forum up and running, and I'm sure the software itself isn't too cheap, so cheers to those in charge!

I find I can't even stand to use other forums sometimes, even just for minimal differences, because I'm used to TB and honestly I think the way this forum runs is great.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Although I agree with the software issues for the most part. The biggest thing for me is the overall attitude of TB. I find most other forums stuffy/snarky/rude by comparison.

Guess I am going to have to step up the snarkiness and
sarcasm.

I've found that with another forum actually, but it's a Computer Science forum. I figured it might have to do with how us computer scientists act, or perhaps your status on the forum. How well-known were you on these other forums?

A few years back, I was a frequent member of the Black Sabbath forums over at http://www.black-sabbath.com and the members were all respectful there too (albeit swearing was allowed over there so whether that qualifies as being "respectful" or not is a different matter, but I mean in terms of how they treat others).

TB is quite respectful because the rules (and the diligent mods) keep it that way.

In your case, yes, you should. You've been slacking terribly in that department.

VBulletin software has a great interface- most other forum softwares aren't nearly as user-friendly to me. TheGearPage.net is the only other non-company forum I visit often, and it's mostly due to the VBulletin setup, although theirs isn't set up quite the same (can't search for 3-letter words, etc.)

I find that to be false with at least the Fender forums. Everybody seems to be close over there. Except sometimes someone from the Gibson forums will go over and be like "Gibson rules!!!", and its really childish. Its funny cause nobody seems to care. Yeah, I was really active there until I joined TB, I now have a problem getting around there cause its nothing like TB (software wise)

I use a couple other sites with this same software, so I am really used to it as well.

Unfortunately, you are correct there sir.

Come to think of it, we are way overdue for a new female
member TB sausage festival. Fresh kills are way down.

I usually don't use other forums because the communities suck. Tb has probably the least amount of dickery in any forum I've been to, especially one so lightly moderated.

I stick around TB because I like the people and the community. Not to mention that the mods are awesome. The VB software is just a pleasant bonus.

I hate talkbass, I have been trying to leave for months, but im trapped in here.

I spent the first few weeks yelling "Help! Get me out!", but after a while I got used to the place.

Seriously. There're only like 5 or 6 of you guys for the BG forum, and you don't really have to do much. And this is one of only a few forums of any size I've seen that the mods (and even the admin!) are part of the community.
