Well guys, today marks 19 years from the day Stevie Ray Vaughn died.
08/27/90
I'm not usually into all that Texas Blues stuff, but SRV was one of my favorite guitarists.

RIP

| Me too. It was my freshman year at Virginia Tech and I called my older brother (drumtard) who also felt sick to his stomach due to the news. I wrote a song on guitar (swamp blues) that I still play today as one of my favorites when I rock out on geetard. In fact, after reading this it's time to fire up the old jcm800. |

We'd moved because she was finishing her bachelor's degree, having finished her associates. I was in 11th grade. I'd come out of my bedroom, and I heard a news snippet saying that Eric Clapton had not died.
I remember thinking, "Oh, cool. Good for Eric." And then later when the news was broadcast again finding out that Stevie HAD died. It was that sobering, "Oh... my" moment. It was quite a loss, and until we lost him I didn't know how much I enjoyed his music.
Isn't that just the cliche? Don't know what you got till it's gone and all that.

The last time I saw him was on his fathers birthday after his father had died. He and Jimmy dedicated a tune to their father, and played it on the same guitar. Jimmy was kind of hugging Stevie while they shared it. It was extremely cool, and very touching.
