Believe it or not, America are the odd ones out in alot of cases, things that you find weird in us, are actually more viewed as weird by a higher percentage of the world lol. Oh well.
Wooh, theres a pub round the corner from Uni with great student rates and every monday and tuesday I have a two hour break so I have some pots and play some pool. I love being grown up.

It's awesome. Having seen a billion episodes of "Law and Order" has actually really helped me to visualize everything.
And yeah, the amount of chicks in college is insane. It's something like 70% female at my school. Of course, my wife is in that 70%.

A Uni is a big place where you can study loads of different subjects - there are often 20,000+ students, and hundreds of different courses.
Colleges tend to be more specific - you get 6th form Colleges, which is where you can go to do A Levels, while some colleges only allow you to do Btecs, which are like A Levels but you only do one subject. They generally only have a few courses, nowhere near as many as a University. You also get some Colleges which allow you to do a degree, but specialise in one subject.
For example, in Leeds there is a College of Music, a College of Art and a College of Technology.
What I have never got is why Americans call a Conservatoire a 'Conservatory'. To us Brits, a Conservatory is a light, airy, glass extension on the back of your house, which looks something like this:
It has always amused me when people say that they are going to a Conservatory to study music...

For example, the Scandinavian system, Finland included, has a dual-system of universities (scientific B/M/PhD degrees) and polytechnical colleges (B's on applied fields like engineering or nursing), so there's a class difference between the two. Although now the polytechs want more prestige, so they've decided to start calling themselves "Universities of Applied Sciences". Bah.
