I'm starting a small side business and need to make a small website. I was looking around and I think GoDaddy seems to be pretty sweet.
Anyone have experience with them? Anyone recommend someone else?
I'm looking for a site that includes software for web development. I'm a graphic designer by day, but my HTML skills are quite rusty.
All opinions welcomed.

They are a reputable company and have never been an issue to deal with.
That said, I host my websites with http://www.arvixe.com/linux_web_hosting
I have a Personal Class Plus account for $7 a month.
They offer this site builder http://www.arvixe.com/rvsitebuilder.php
as well as a script installer with TONS of CMS, Blog, Shopping Cart, etc stuff available at the click of a button. |

. | Leo Laporte of Screensavers and radio fame has badmouthed them before because of all the upselling and whatnot.

| | | | I use them as a name registrar for my domain name, and my friends and I have a site hosted with them. They are decent. Not the cheapest, but they are reliable. So far, we have never had to use their customer service or tech support, so can't comment on that.
Some people appear to not like them because they are one of the big players in hosting. But whatever, they serve my needs, so I will continue to use them for the time being. |

by the way...the people that control this list thing are extremely brutal.

If you need some help building sites, if you buy their hosting, they open up a bunch of opensource CMS style softwares that they will install for you directly onto your domain, makes it pretty sweet to deal with. Things like Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, SMF forums, PHPBB forums, et all.
That being said, if you're going to be sending out a bunch of emails, like for a launch style thing, don't use them, cause they'll lock your **** in a heart beat.

Thanks.

Thanks. | Basically what he's saying is that Godaddy is Nazi like with enforcing spam complaints against people registered with them. If you send out massive amounts of email, and some one complains to Godaddy about your email address sending spam, then they will no questions asked shut your site down for a period of time while they "review" it. If you're launching a new site or product this can kill you financially.

I think their customer service is the best of any host I've ever dealt with. They were patient and thoroughly explained everything I needed to know, and that was a lot of stuff. I'm not too knowledgable with the internet/domain/hosting thing, and they were patient and curteous with me.
I get spam from them, but I get an equal amount from other webservices I've used. I just delete it. Not an issue for me. I get about 1000X more spam from Musicians Friend. |

Inmotion is #1 on their top 10 list. Then again, maybe Inmotion is paying for that spot?
