State pride.

I was wondering about other state's pride.

I've been told a story by my dad about asking a guy in Tennessee what his state bird was outta curiosity and they guy told him he didn't know and had never really been asked that before. I even got a uncle Kenny that is from New Jersey and is a prideful Texan now: bumper stickers, shirts that have various Texas quotes (like "Ya'll can go to hell, and I'll go to Texas") and often says, with pride, I'm a Texan by choice not by birth. Without looking it up I can tell you Texas' state: Bird, fish, reptile, nut, tree, grass, song among other things. I've only been to Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico & Oklahoma (barely remember those two), Maryland & Virginia (trip to D.C), and of course Texas. Louisiana was the only other one that really titled their food and other stuff in pride like we do (ex: New Orleans jazz, Louisiana crawfish ect). So I'm wondering what people's pride is like from other states?

I lived for 6 years (and will retire) in Texas. I have been all over the US and can say from my experience, no other state has the pride the Texans have for their home. I like the "Don't mess with Texas" saying the best.

I'm an American. I live in whatever state (or country) Uncle Sam tells me to. Even if it's Texas.

It seems like the Thunderbirds ad was the one I saw most often. That song still occasionally pops into my head for whatever reason.

I never understood having intrinsic pride due to your geographic disposition, particuarly if you were born in that location and, therefore, didn't have a choice in the matter. I'm from Pennsylvania and have been living in North Carolina for the past six months. I'll be returning to PA at the end of the month. While I really dig NC, I've come to realize that I do love PA (other than the winter). However, I'm not "proud" to be from PA. The same way, my experience as an American has been pretty good, but I'm not "proud" to be an American.

Coloradans are some of the coolest people around. Much better then other states that I've lived in.

I don't like a lot of the stereotypically British things (cricket, football, tea, the monarchy, strawberries), and I'm not at all patriotic or proud to be English. I love living here - we have a democratic system of government, free healthcare, a very good standard of life, and I don't have to worry about deadly snakes, spiders, lizards or fish. I wouldn't really want to live in a different country, but I am not proud of being English. It just seems a bit silly to me.

Same with being from America, only without the free health-care (needs to be fixed) and with all the poisonous creatures.

I always have thought it was silly to be super proud of where you're from. Not saying I'm not patriotic, but some things get taken way to far here.

i know some people from texas. and they always seem really proud. i never found minnesota such a big deal. but that might just be me.

I know plenty of people who are from Colorado and now live in south central Iowa and they're some pretty cool people.

Yep,I dont think I actually ever saw the SRV one I linked,but the T-Birds meledy plays in my head from time to time.
