Station Wagon Club!

Sign in to disble this ad
Who's with me? I'm not ashamed to admit it: I love station wagons. A lot of us grew up riding in them, and the nostalgia is there for sure. Plus they'll haul all your gear! I've had a few Subarus in the past, but right now this is my baby: 1970 Ford LTD Country Squire. Not my daily driver, but a sweet cruiser/hauler/project.

I've been driving a station wagon (my cherokees are just that) for the past 13 years. In fact, the first year I registered my first one it said station wagon on the registration, the next time it said sport utility....

My very first car was an AMC hornet wagon. My third was a Ford Escort wagon. I've always been happiest with wagons, and I just made a Facebook post a few days ago as I am loking for a new one, but there just aren't enough high quality, economical (fuel and wallet) examples in newer model years. It seems it's only euro brands and Subaru still in the game.

LOVE wagons. I heard a rumor that the Chevy Cruze will have a wagon variant next model year. I just might buy one of those.

I LOVE wagons! I'm currently driving a BMW 528i wagon. I wish they still made wagon versions of the Japanese mid-sizers like the Accord because the Volvos/BMWs/Audis/VWs get expensive to upkeep.

Re: Chevy wheels on a Ford - I'm non-partisan: if it looks good, I'll rock it.

And yes, I just finished changing the Wisconsin plates to Iowa.

Back in the mid-90s I had a 1983 Chevy Caprice wagon that looked a lot like yours. It had the third seat in the back, and my kids would always fight to see who would sit in the "wayback", as they called it. My boss at my old job used to call it an "urban assault vehicle"!

I learned to drive in a '77 Chevy Caprice Estate wagon. Just like that one, only with Chevy emblems. Big car.

Nice. You must live in Southern Pennsylvania, judging by the palms.

I used to own a 1969 International Travelall and a 1968 Cadillac hearse. Both were sort of pumped up versions of station wagons and great for hauling band gear.

Funny, we used to travel to gigs in a 70's hearse, had the powered casket sled, great for moving loads of gear out to easy reach..

Hey Art Guy - What engine is in your Country Squire? My dad had a 67 with a 390 2bbl. I drove it quite a bit in my teens. It was really cool.
