Stay Away From My Daughter!

I guess this goes in the no surprise category, but I guess I'll make a few comments. First, the story doesn't make it clear if the girl is the same age as the boys on the basketball team or not. If she is younger, than the boys need to keep their distance, no matter her color. A 16 or 17 year old jock nailing a 12 or 13 year old girl is a tried and true recipe for trouble.
Second, if these were my boys, I would tell them that they are setting themselves up for the classic trap: the girl likes them, but if she gets caught, she will probably swear she was raped. There are way too many fish in the sea for a young man to get caught up in that deal. Finally, I would have to contact that father to tell him that if he has a problem with my kid that does not require law enforcement, then he better talk to me, and not threaten my child!

Yawn.

If the dad had actually said something racist, it would be quoted all over that article. This is just trash, sensationalism journalism at it's best.

I always question anything coming from a website called "Black Spin", guess it isn't just a clever name!

Would be interesting to read this from a non-race-orientated website.

I agree. The article is vague, makes generalized statements, and is pretty well biased and sensationalist.

If it was coming from a credible source like Fox News, maybe I would believe it.

Why is it questionable? The Black Spin provided a link to a local station with a story showing parents who were concerned, do you think they all are liars? Is the name, Black Spin, a problem? Do you think there is something wrong with a website that offers stories that interest black people?

I guess a room full of people means nothing? Frankly, it is not unusual for people who make threats, especially towards kids, to not want to repeat them in front of cameras.

Clearly the story has a racial aspect, but to me, the more interesting thing is the question of when is it appropriate for kids to have social contact? That's why I am curious about the age of the boys.

As for the guy's racial attitude, no one is surprised, that is why I would tell a son, if I had one, just to steer clear. Some relationships just aren't worth the baggage.

Oh it is. I would like to see the story from somewhere other than "Black Spin," but that was entirely meant as a joke.

I'm afraid there will probably always be 3 sides to this story, the boys', the father's, and the truth. The boys could be lying (and I've often seen people turn things racial that weren't originally), and the father is just as likely to be lying to save his skin.

The ages of the boys and girl would provide some light to the story, as would the father's tendencies.

I agree with you completely; any child of mine would be told to stay away, and that it could be messy if he continued to pursue such a girl.

Honestly with alot of the ignorance in the world, it's just going to have to DIE off. Literally. It will be awhile. But eventually it should dilute itself.

As long as racism continues to be taught to children, it will not be erased.

How do you think the same article written on White Spin would read?

A room full of people talking about this doesn't prove one way or the other that there was anything racially said, it just means that there was a room full of people worried about the dad saying he was going to kill the kids on the basketball team.

Edit: If they had brought in one of the players, or a coach, or something like that during the news piece and they had made the statement that the dad came in and said "HEY YOU ****ING ******* STAY AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER" then yea, you might have a point, and frankly, it'd be easy for them to get them to say something like that if it actually happened. The absence of it is suspicious to say the least.

Of course the story has a racial aspect to it, but the degree of that aspect is what I'm questioning, and frankly I think you have to look at anything coming from a website called blackspin talking about racism with a skeptical eye.

As for the guy's racial attitude, no one is surprised, that is why I would tell a son, if I had one, just to steer clear. Some relationships just aren't worth the baggage.
What racial attitude from the guy? There is nothing in the article that is directly attributable to him, and we don't know anything about what actually happened except for what we're being told and fed by an obviously biased source. We don't know the age of the daughter or the players involved, so whose to say a father of a 13 or 14 year old freshman might not lose his lid when he finds out she's been talking to some 18 year old senior jocks?

I mean, if we want to make assumptions based on nothing about the father's past history, what he said, and what actually went down and assume he's just a racist dirtbag based on a painfully obviously biased article, let's assume, that since one of the women in the group was talking about her 12 year old daughter, that the daughter in question is 12 years old, and these boys are 16-17-18 years old.

That's enough right there for me to call them dirtbags and agree with the father.

THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A CASE WHERE A BUNCH OF OVERLY HORNY, DIRTBAG OF PEOPLE BLACK BASKETBALL PLAYERS WERE HITTING ON AN ANGELIC 12 YEAR OLD WHITE GIRL AND HER OVERTLY RACIST FATHER TOLD THEM HE'D KILL THEM ONLY BECAUSE THEY WERE BLACK, OBVIOUSLY, IF THEY WERE WHITE, NOTHING WOULD BE WRONG.

MAKING GENERALIZATIONS WITHOUT ANY KNOWLEDGE IS FUN, WOOOOOOOO

Caps because I'm being totally serious and because that is obviously the only way we can look at this with the information we have.

The Black Spin is pretty obvious in terms of its position. "Far and Balanced" Fox is not.

If you weren't so defensive about race, you might have noticed in my OP that I brought up the issue of age. The story made news because it appears the Dad said you "black boys leave my daughter alone," not "you are too old to be friends with my daughter."

I would prefer someone honestly saying where they stood than feigning neutrality, furthermore, if something is oriented for whites, who is to say that it must be anti-black?

JMO, FOX and News should never be used together. It's an oxymoron to the greatest degree. JMO though.
