I can't log into my steam account, says the username or password is invalid. Shouldnt be, they are the same as they have been since steam came out. I did the thing to retrieve password yesterday, still havent gotten an email from steam.
Also, I am no longer in the friends bit with my friends.
Im starting to worry that my account has been hacked/hijacked or deleted , which sucks as it had all the HL1 stuff and all the HL2 stuff, TF2, Portal etc etc etc
Going to give it til tonight to get an email from steam before going onto the forums and filing a report, anyone else had this happen?

I've never had it happen but I can't say I'm surprised. Steam has a bad reputation for being crap. It's gotten a lot better, but four or five years ago it was horrible. I remember last year there were these things going around in Steam, that would want you to sign in to do something. It looked like a Steam window and you put in your details, and it stole your account. Has anything weird like that happened to you?
I have had no problems for a long time now, other than it being slow and unresponsive at times. Some of my friends still get that bloody annoying "This account is being used in another location" message that kicks you out of any game you are in.
By the way, if you recover your account, please add me. Maybe we can play TF2, CSS or DoD:S some time. My account is Josh555

I got banned for using my account on my little brothers computer, cause apparetnly he was experimenting with hacks. they weren't even enabled, just files on the desktop....i just logged on after not playing for like 6 months and there were alll the red "no" signs on all the servers. luckily i suck at all games, and I couldn't give less of a crap.

My account is Josh555 | I must admit, I never liked it to start with, I stayed with WON until it was no more before moving to steam, and I got really fond of it. However, I was never happy about having a fair amount of money invested in something that could be so easily lost (like what has happened!).
And nope, no wierd log in things or anything that I can recall. I havent played anything on it in about 3-4 months (CoD4 got in the way, and I didnt get it on steam ), im a bit worried, but im sure it will get sorted
And yeah, that problem with "your account is in another location" is about the only problem I ever had with steam too.
And yeah, when I get it back I'll add you Quote:

bc | That might just be an HL2 engine issue. I always get HL2.exe crashing whenever a mod or a game running off the HL2 engine is under a lot of stress. For example when I'm playing Garry's Mod and someone makes a huge ass contraption that lags the server AND your computer, sometimes the HL2 engine dies.
It's happened a few times in other games too if there is loads of stuff going on in one screen. But yeah, it's pretty annoying.

But yeah, it's pretty annoying. | I read a letter in Maximum PC this week in which someone was getting similar issues with Bioshock, which is not HL2 engine, and the Max PC guy said it's a Steam issue that's all over the forums. Could be a different issue but symptoms were identical.

bc | Well that sucks! Steam really know how to royally screw things up. Luckily it works well for me 90% of the time.
After seeing the way it was years ago I can't really complain now. It used to give me so much grief.
I have a funny Steam Update parody gif, I won't post it 'cause it's got some bad language though.
I've already gotten 2 infraction points for saying something mildly offensive this week.
Here is a link though - beware: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...teamUpdate.gif

Yeah, I've had my fair share of steam problems in the past.
If anyone wants to play TF2 sometime, my steam id is if_i_had_a_dime.

One thing worries me tho
"In the event that a hijacked Steam account is banned by the Valve Anti-Cheat System, Steam Support will not be able to reverse the ban."
That is a bit unfair, and something that could easily be rectified surely!
