Us Bears fans would welcome Tomlin to Chicago. Unfortunately, the Bears have chosen to stick with their slug of a head coach for at least another year.

I feel your pain. To go from Superbowl team to missing the playoffs in one season hurts and hurts bad. For the Bears we've been three years missing the playoffs since we went to the Big Game. I hope your team doesn't have the same kind of drought and I'm pretty sure they won't.

First thing the Steelers need to do is cut their kicker. That guy is brutal.

other than being a super douche Jeff Reed isnt a bad player just a crap year with the same half hearted effort the rest of the team had. although i guess theres a senior kicker at Pitt known for kicking 50+ yarders in the open end of Heinz field the team just may have their eye on

a kid I played highschool football with routinely kicked the kickoff through the uprights, Now that he's at the University of arkansas, he's missed 25 yard chipshots and can't kick off into the endzone. There's a big step between highschool and college, and a bigger one between college and pro.

I always think it's kind of lame when a team's Special Teams coach gets canned after a season where the kicker misses a lot of field goals. I mean, really, the kicker's just got to make the kicks. If he can't do it, get rid of the player, not the coach.

Now if a lot of kicks are getting blocked, then that might fall on the Special Teams coack, but the coach can't go out there and kick the field goals for him.

go back and check the stats on how many games we lost that we had a team run back kick off on us and we lost by LESS than 7 points.. i believe thats 3. it has nothing to do with missed field goals the special teams definately lost 3 games for us on those stats. 3 games is the difference between sitting january out and playing in january with a first week bye for us

also I think there was a 5 game streak of them having a kick ran back on them, win loss or otherwise.

You're right, runbacks against for TDs are a totally different thing from missed FGs. A Special Teams coach should very much be on the firing line if his team is giving up easy TDs on returns to that degree.

The other thing that's got to really hurt Steelers fans is to miss the playoffs in a year where, frankly, beyond the top 2 or 3 teams the AFC was really, really weak. I remember after game 14 them showing a graphic and there were like 6 teams still "in the hunt" for the playoffs with 7-7 records and there might have even been a team in there with a losing record. That's just crazy. Like the OP said, 3 more wins for the Steelers this year and they're in the playoffs hands-down. Heck maybe even just 2 more wins.

Buck up, Steelers fans, you'll be back to double digit wins next season. They have the talent to do it.

yeah... that's exactly what happend. It was funny. When the steelers were playing, they were talking about how it's not that often that a team wins the super bowl and then misses the playoffs, the commentator was like " it's been a while since that happened", they showed the graphic, and it was the steelers, a few years ago...

Finally special teams get's some talk! As a punter you've gotta love that. But anywho, going to the guy who was talking about the Bears earlier, If the Bear's have a repeat season next year, then he's gone. A lot of things didn't go our (the bears) way this year - cutler was getting settled in yet, which I think attributed greatly to his interception amount, loads of injuries, and yes, poor coaching decisions. But the person I think we need to replace first is Jerry Angelo. He's not really done anything productive since we got him, and has missed out on some big opportunities to pick up some big time players - finally trying to get Anquan Boldin last year, and actually picking up Jay Cutler. I'm seeing a much better season next year, and then Lovie has a chance to stay.
