Steelers or Packers? Help a Brit decide...

I'm really looking forward to watching this game tonight (late here), but at the moment I'm totally neutral about who I should be cheering on, and that spoils the fun and makes things kinda boring. So tell me who I should be supporting and liven up the event for me.

Laurent, I hear you - but JimmyM and Pacman have both said Steelers. I have to be honest here and say that some TBers votes will count at least double, because they're buddies. Hence the public poll.

The three I've mentioned here are all included, of course.

And Laurent - get your European ass over to England sometime soon, okay? I haven't seen you since you fell in love with my sister. Bring JP if you need a minder.

I happen to be a fan of both teams, but let me make my argument for rooting for the Packers:

The quarterback for the Packers is a good dude, very talented, and he's not been accused of sexually assaulting 3 young ladies. The quarterback for the Steelers can only make one of those three claims truthfully.

Such is my case for why I'm rooting for the Packers.

+ 1 pretty much sums it up ! Bill, you should read about the Packers history, they're a unique franchise in professional sports. oh your sister is indeed lovely, JP and myself really enjoyed her company

That sounds like a porno film! Let it be said that I chaperoned her the entire time!

JP is totally harmless in that respect anyways.

Steelers ! I may be a little biased since I'm from Pittsburgh and was born and raised a Steeler fan.

Both teams are well coached by coaches who know and respect the game. Both teams have some players who are considered the best or top five in their positions. Both teams have players who have been on the roster for years. Neither team "bought" their current roster by signing a bunch of high priced free agents to help them win. The cities each team are from are smaller towns full of hard working people who love and follow their USA football team like no other in professional sports in the USA.

Green Bay has set the standard for winning professional American football championships, although they have not won one in 15 years. Pittsburgh is trying to catch up, having won a couple in the last six years.

I don't know how you are with your favorite team, but sometimes when my team loses, I have no trouble with the team they lost to. If the Steelers lose to Green Bay today, I'll be disappointed by not too much.

If you are interested in the off the field activities of the players, then Green Bay is your choice today. The Steelers had an off the field issue with their QB this season that has caused many people to hope they lose today.

No matter who you rest your hopes on, you are going to get some excellent football between the white lines today.

Thanks Gard. For the record, losing to the Saints was another team that I wasn't so upset about losing to.

Had it gone the other way, I'd have said the same. There are few truly CLASS organizations in the NFL these days, we are fortunate, along with the fans of a few other teams (Packers, for example) to root for them. My opinion of ONE player on the Steelers' roster does not diminish my opinion of the team, just makes me want to root for the other guy today.

The Packers were the first football team I ever watched on TV and ever since then I've been a fan. I'll definitely be pulling for them today!
