Blow Against the Empire: Bank of America (BA) had the tables turned on it in June after the company wrongfully harassed an alleged mortgage scofflaw in Naples, Fla. BA had attempted to foreclose on homeowners Warren and Maureen Nyerges last year even though the couple had bought their house with cash -- paid directly to BA. It took BA a year and a half to understand its mistake -- that is, until the Nyergeses sued and won a judgment for expenses of $2,534, which BA promptly ignored. The Nyergeses' attorney obtained a seizure order, and two sheriff's deputies, with a moving truck, arrived at the local BA branch on June 3 to load $2,534 worth of furniture and computer equipment from the bank's offices. After about an hour on the phone with higher-ups, the local BA manager issue a check for $2,534. [Naples Daily News, 6-3-2011]

Since we've lost the difference in Public and Private sectors, its in a companies best interest to make a grab for the cash, then deal with the right and wrong of the matter after they get caught. Usually the profits out weight the fines. And hey if your company names gets tarnished, just rename and start the lies over.

I am of the opinion that, as long as corporations can be incorporated by common citizens, that they do not constitute the Man. Corporations are made by and run by common citizens; therefore however nice or nasty they are, our fellow citizens are responsible.
While it is of course true that governments are also typically comprised of and run by common citizens, governments tend to have much more latitude in their actions, and often are able to do things - without oversight, without regulation - that corporations cannot.

I think our definitions of The Man vary a bit. As I see it The Man = The Establishment = The Military/Industrial/Political/Economic Complex, which includes big banks.
Sure, they're not government but they have enough influence to effect govenrment.

Way I see it, boiled down, is that the Establishment, should it/they take a dislike to you, can take your house and not have to answer to anybody; the Man can take your life, and similarly not have to explain themselves.
Degrees of same, I suppose. Or maybe separate and indvidual entities with similar aspects. Who knows?
All the same though, a great story, and definitely a great sticking of it to whomever it was got sticked!
