Inspired by the Spongebob thread and some thoughts I've had recently, I've decided to make a thread where we list which TV shows that are still running that have jumped the shark.
Sadly, I must offer up my two personal favorites: House and The Office.
I drew that conclusion about House during the recent episode where the nut with a gun takes everybody hostage so he can be diagnosed. I really think there are only so many solutions within the range of plausibility they can cover, and that episode is a sign that they've pretty much exhausted them. I'll give it one more season, max, although I can easily see how they could wrap it up in this one.
The Office has long ago exhausted Gervais' original source material, and I believe they've satirized everything that they can to the point where now the show is more about the characters' interpersonal relationships than a send-up of corporate culture. Again, I can see this one going for one more season.

On reality TV I think it depends. Real reality TV like Ice Road Truckers, Intervention, and what I consider the first reality show, Cops, can be good. But the gameshow garbage gets old quick.

The main character (played by Ralph Little) was killed off at the start when hen failed to jump over a shark and was subsequently eaten.
It seems have been the last series but I don't think they're ruling out a new one. |
