Did you ever fall asleep while playing your bass? Well I did. I was rehearsing Bad Woman Blues with my headphones on, in an easy chair. Luckily I used the strap, so the bass didn't fall down. By the way, I didn't use anything else than the usual coffee.

I fell asleep playing for worship at my church once. It was a brutally slow, boring (on bass) song ("As The Deer" for any of fellow church-going bass players) and I had literally been up all night. I was standing up and everything. When I jolted awake, I was still playing, and seemed to be on the right note and everything.

We've been doing a blues brunch recently on Sunday mornings, with load in at 10 A.M. Usually not a big deal unless we played Saturday night.

First week we did a back to back like that I got a stool to sit on and played with my eyes closed pretty much the whole time.I could feel myself drifting off now and again, but knew as long as I heard the bass I'd be ok.

Things were fine until we hit the middle of Mr. Magic and I thought to myself "Hey ,where's the bass line?" OOPS!

I no longer sit on days when I'm sleepy.

If you're falling asleep while playing, you're doing it wrong.
