Grand Rapids Michigan, known for it's conservative atmosphere, and proliferation of churches, is being acknowledged for it's friendliness to the gay community as well:

The vast majority of my gay friends moved to Chicago, and to a lesser extent the Twin Cities to escape from GR because of it's narrow minded attitude concerning their orientation. I think I'm going to have to make a few phone calls.......
