When you can top 21 hours stuck in an airport, I'll feel badly for you....

...back in the late 80's, I was flying "space available" (dad was a captain for a major airline), which typically was no big deal, you just show up at the gate and wait, right before they close the doors, they give you your choice of available seats and off you go...picked a bad day to travel from Atlanta to Orlando (Sunday afternoon, springtime), and got bumped from about a dozen flights, slept on the ground using my backpack as a pillow, caught the early flight the next day, had to take a shower and run straight to work too, since it was a Monday.

When I worked for an Airline, it was their policy that if this sort of thing happened to you, and you missed a shift at work, you were immediately fired. I was super terrified and never took advantage of the free flights.

Well, I knew that the flights were tight, and took a chance. If you had that hanging over your head, you could always check space available before the trip, and make sure to pick a flight you won't get bumped off of.

Ridiculously high. I spent 7 bucks on Wendy's breakfast today, just for one combo meal
I'm down to my last $20, because i had to bust out $50 cash for changing my flight.

I knew I could check the flights, but still, if they filled up or a snow storm happened or etc... I guess I'm just paranoid.

Damn you STILL there? Flying sucks anymore. Use to be the best experience in the world, now just about the opposite.

yep, still here, got 2 hours to go. The worst part was, ironically, that the security checkpoint was really quick, so I got through any sort of interesting part of being here to spend more time sitting around
