The man replied, "Well, I guess it could've been worse - it could've been Alzheimer's."

| | | Just turned 45 at the beginning of November.
I work in a factory and I keep pretty fit as I move around a bunch.
Still I am probably overweight and could stand to loose 20 pounds, but my
wife makes sure I eat "healthy" but spoils my to no end with good food
Recently, I did another job where I had to bend and stand quite a bit,
when I got home it felt like I had been doing stomach crunches all day long.... OUCH!!
Getting a bald spot at the top of my head, some say it's
because I was wearing a hat but it is just gravity as it seems that I have more chest hair lately
Because I work on concrete floors daily, my feet hurt more,
mainly my ankles.
Have to use the potty more.
Family is also important to me, got divorced 3 years ago and new wife's kids adore me so I try to spend quality time with them.
I go to bed earlier... no more 2:30am nights since I have to get up at 6am for work. Now it is 9:30 / 10:00 pm. bedtime. Besides cuddle time is always a plus
I actually do not feel 45 but somewhere around 30 or so,
Age to me is a state of mind and just a scorecard as far as numbers go, My dad is 73 and looks like he is maybe around 55 or so. He taught me about age vs. state of mind.
for me this is about it for getting older, still in the game...
Oh! almost forgot, Instead of the muscle car thing it was getting a bass and becoming a bass player

My Dad had me before his teenage years had eclipsed, and his youthful appearance and attitude has always been a double-edged sword. At 40, I was worried about getting the "Dude, your brother..." Thank God at 60 he inexplicably decided to grow a totally out of character pornstache that immediately turned gray. Everyone hates it, but his defiant youthful stand is both encouraging and relieving
More old guy stuff...
Wife in the medical profession, also trying to make me eat "healthy". Ack. Tonight she was extolling the virtues of a veggie burger patty melt she made for lunch. Ack. Still, I can't eat like a used to without pain. Portion sizes much more realistic, but not by choice.
Drive off from home on your way to...wherever...and immediately start wondering if your forgot to...whatever...I didn't used to do this. Some reason, now I do. |

Enjoy going online with my 13 year old son and playing Black Ops. Nothing like getting your a@@ kicked over and over by the lightning fast reflexes and hand-eye coordination of younger kids.
Enjoy the hair that used to be thick and black thinning and getting nearly white. A constant battle.
Enjoy going to the doctor and getting the testosterone checked because I feel tired all the time. It's normal. Normal for WHAT? Oh, yeah, an old guy.
That's just a few more.....

| | Just one more question | | Join Date: Aug 2011 Location: San Franciscco, CA | | I'm enjoying the freedom to be myself more than I ever have. I think I have things like job, (career? ) family, faith, love etc, etc closer to their order of importance. Yes, I have slowed down a little physically but emotionally things have never been better. I have the wisdom to realize I am not all that wise. I laugh more, cry more (yes I am free to cry when I feel like it) and I appreaciate what a full, rich life I have. Plus being born in the early 50's as the youngest of 6 kids I got to enjoy all kinds of music. Rock and Roll, rockabilly, R&B, surf music, the british invasion, acid rock, stadium rock, punk, grunge and more.

Seems to have mellowed-out, but I have to be on top of the bronchitis and hit the doctor at early signs.
I now have 3 pairs of glasses:
1) Distance-Driving and TV.They also have Transition so they get dark in sunshine.
2) Computer-For vegging on the computer and reading.
3) Progressive-They have distance, computer, and reading all built in, but it gets pretty crazy with all those lenses in one set of glasses. These are for out and about where I need to drive around and also read labels on stuff or check out books, etc.
I'm going to the doctor soon for a shot of Cortizone in my elbow. Just killing me.
Can't memorize as easily as I used to.
On the good side, I'm way more mellow, or maybe I just stopped caring.
Can drink in moderation now and don't feel the need to go on "adventures."
It's all good. Happy to be alive.

I haven't slept more than six hours at a time since I passed the age of 45.
My bladder is up 1/2 an hour before me every day, telling me to wake up & head to the restroom.
I value comfort far more than style.
I love fancy restaraunts & can't stand fast food - it used to be the other way around.
I'd rather have 2 or three really nice basses than a whole wall full of average basses.
I have a daily pill organizer, and I take enough pills each morning to fill a jumbo baby rattle.

I am in a very good spot in my life... Don't have to take any meds unless I have a sinus headache or something, then it's over the counter stuff.
I have a very nice wife who is 42 and looks like 35... She keeps me young
As for the memory goes, I am ok there.
I still play the sax and if it wasn't for memory, I would be in a world of hurt.
The bass is new to me and I am really enjoying the journey that I am on to learn it. I keep practicing and learning new stuff all the time.
I basically enjoy life and my wife and I are very happy!

Then do the same in the afternoon or later on the day. The difference may surprise you. Up to 3/4 of an inch difference is no exception. If you're getting older, the ability to regain full length while sleeping deminishes. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
