Stupid soccer comments...like very stupid

Went to catch the World Cup game USA vs England.

This guy and girl were asking me the most stupid questions.

- So the world cup is every year?
- How many quarters are there in the game?
- Why don't they have time outs?
- Why don't they "contest" a play?
- Which one is USA?
- What do they have to do again? Kick the ball where?
- What happens if they tie?
- How many teams from USA are playing in the world cup?

At first I thought they were busting my nuts or they were drunk. But it was no joke.

Although the bartender was having the time of his life laughing at all those questions.

Patience is a big virtue I will never have.

You know what annoys me the most though; people that call it soccer instead of football.

You like soccer and their getting interested in the sport. You should be happy someone want to learn about the sport via you and you should answer their questions. Otherwise, if no one gets interested in soccer in USA, the stereotypes and the ignorance will continue. Be a gentleman and answer their questions.

I'd be just as clueless asking some technical questions regarding American Football or Ice Hockey.

If i was asking about Cricket id be just as stupid, although this situation is a little different because soccer (or football) is a world sport and the biggest sport in the world.

Remind me what the second "F" in "FIFA" stands for again...

One of my favourite windups (until I and everyone around me got bored of it) was "we were calling it Football before you even had a country, let alone a national sport" ...

Well sure. But he was clearly talking to the 2/10 who don't.

And 8/10 is incorrect, its 4/5.

In a round about way, its the International Federation of Association Football, the acronym is based on the French name, Fédération Internationale de Football Association.

Association Football, who's name in moden times has been shortened to Soccer.

All I know is that I went online and bought (2) vuvuzela's. they play like trumpets and they are super loud. I love them and even more so now that the tele veiwers are complaining about the noise while watching the matches at home. Give me a break I wish I was in S. Africa watching the matches live. I am American and not a soccer big-shot but I had to get those horns are a momento for this World Cup.....GO USA ON FRIDAY.....

Darn summer has made me forget simplifying fractions. I feel ashamed.

I can not believe these people were serious. How can you ask how many quarters are in the game? That's beyond dumb.
I don't watch soccer, and never really have but I'm not that clueless.
Jeeze..

To be honest, I know nothing about soccer. I would probably ask those same questions.

I don't think there is anything wrong with not knowing about a sport.

But... How many quarters are there in *anything* ??? I mean, they're called "quarters" so you can tell how many there are, right?
