With that said, it should be a pretty good match up IMO. However, I'm taking the Colts over the Saints, 34-27. Go COLTS!!! |

GET OVER IT! | I've lived in Louisiana my whole life and have despised Texas the entire time.
It's the massive onslaught of bandwagon fans that fuel my negative feelings towards the Saints. |

It was amazing to see the bumper stickers on vehicles, Who Dat?! songs on the radio, and Facebooks statuses supporting the Saints immediately disappear after their first loss. Oh look, they're back now. I guess it's just too much to ask for loyalty.
Sure there are true fans and I'm happy for them, don't get me wrong. |

Sure there are true fans and I'm happy for them, don't get me wrong. | you're going to get bandwagon fans anywhere, especially when you have a team that's perenially a loser suddenly become a contender (see: colts, indianapolis, patriots, new england, cardinals, arizona, rams, st. louis). that doesn't mean that you have to resent that team though. not everyone has the time/interest to be a diehard sports fan, and it's their perogative, can't blame the team for that.

However I swear it seems the saints win by some kind of luck every game this year. Honestly I haven't watched every game but the last few they won were so close, or the other team actually played better, we just get lucky.
I hate the culture down here too, and the WHO DAT, is really annoying. BUT its pretty cool after the game just go in the back yard and yell WHO DAT and you will get a WHO DAT back from some random neighbor. My mom was in tears, she wished for this every year that I could remember.

I've been a fan ever since, never wavered, never faltered, there are those here that will attest to this.
If there are some bandwagoners, that's fine, let 'em enjoy the ride, I'm not letting THEM ruin MY experience. You should join me if you're really a fan. | Gard--congrats, man! I'm pulling for the Saints in the SB (OK, partly because I've got no love for the Colts or Manning ).

I suppose I could rephrase my original statement to "I'm sick of hearing about the Saints", but it's a minor detail. No, it's not the team's fault and yes, it's a cool thing that they've finally made it to the Superbowl.
It's ironic that you mention Katrina causing some support for the Saints, when just 4 years ago Katrina hit and the Saints were forced elsewhere. No one wanted them back at the time.
I will admit, I felt a wave of guilty pleasure when 30 Rock made a reference to the Saints bandwagon.
I suppose this thread has been derailed enough. I feel like the Colts should pull this one out. The Saints seemed to weaken under the pressure of being an undefeated team. I can only imagine how the Super Bowl will make them feel. They consistently perform well from behind in the 4th quarter on the contrary, so it could go either way I guess. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
