Was supposed to start a new job on Monday but...

I need to vent I was formally offered a position w/ a local construction company as a Senior PM on July 15 and accepted on the 18th. We agreed on Monday Aug. 4 as my start date. Well, we were supposed to have lunch yesterday so he could introduce me to a couple of the guys. He then told me yesterday morning he's busy and we'd shoot for later in the week. I had a feeling something was up, but this guy was almost begging me to come on board, so I didn't think twice. Well, I get a voicemail around 5:30 today asking me to call him and I could hear something was a little off in his voicemail. I called him back and sure enough, he was rescinding the offer due to current market conditions and is not filling the position anytime soon. Honestly, I'm not that disappointed. More pissed than anything. It was going to be a HUGE paycut from my previous position, but having been out of the workforce for the past 6 months, it was better than nothing. Having worked for this guy 11 or 12 yrs ago, I already knew the guy's a prick and I really didn't want the job but I was looking at it as just a temporary thing until something else comes along. I felt like he was taking advantage of me being out of work by lowballing me on the offer and a few things that were in the posting on Monster were not included in the offer letter. When I called him out on that stuff when I countered the offer, he had all kinds of bullshite reasons but I wasn't in a position to play hardball. I really wanted to tell him to blank off, but was professional and told him I understand and to keep me in mind in the future if things change. That was just a real douchebag thing to do to someone right before I was supposed to start! Oh well, blank 'em!

Man I know the feeling. I broke my leg on a site about 4 months ago and my boss had me on the books as a contract employee so no workman's comp. Sure I probably could have sued him but he is my dads best friend and was at the hospital before my dad was the day I was born so kinda hard for me to screw the guy up in court.

I was out of work for 3 months with no income but some money I made bartending on the weekends and a Multi Level Marketing company I own.

Finally I get a job offer from a friend as a driver for a marketing company, they interview me and then string me along for 4 weeks until I accept defeat and move on. Then a temp position opens up and there's my foot in the door.

The guy that they had to fire to bring me on full time ended up coming back one night with a shotgun and tried to blow the safe open.

Now the operations manager is kicking himself in the ass for not hiring me earlier cause he gets comments every day about how hard I work and how much i do to get stuff done. Plus I have already caught some potentially expensive mistakes in the warehouse. Not to mention that I'm not crazy.

It just seems like everyone wants a job done but no one wants to pay for it.

Good luck finding something man. I had my resume up on monster for a long time and the only hits I ever got were telemarketing companies that would get me to come in for an interview only to find out hours later that I was under qualified in one area or another but thats another story.
