Not really. It seems like no one remembers the 1976 swine flu outbreak, where vaccination deaths outnumbered flu deaths by something like 30 to 1.

I have yet to figure out how worrying about anything does any good. Seems to me that worrying about something happening only contributes energy toward making it happen; as in self fulfilling prophecy.

Not yet...so far this quite honestly seems to be more hype than anything. I hope that all it is though...

I had started a thread on this a few days ago:

Swine flu - media hype, or should we be concerned?

BTW - I do vaguely remember the 1976 swine flu scare though I was a wee young un, crazy stuff

Not really, if it happens it happens.

Though there are a few cases in Scotland already.

Yeah, now we check vaccines for lethal degenerative nerve disorders before giving them to the masses

I like pork. Particularly Bacon.

Pork futures are down the last 2 days. Great time to
buy some ribs and pork tenderloins.

Consumers seem to think swine flu can be transmitted
by eating pork, but that is ABSOLUTELY FALSE.

Maki will probably get it from some snot nosed kid in
his class sneezing on him. Of course, not that those
kids in school ever wash their hands or anything.

Nice 1976, nice.

My sister and I are both showing some symptoms of it for about 2 days now. However, neither of us are worrying about it. We're just going to keep a closer eye on things and if the symptoms begin to deteriorate then we will both go to the doctor. In short a runny nose, sore throat, and slight fever, are not going to panic us into rushing to see a doctor just yet because it could be just a common cold. If the symptoms begin to deteriorate then we shall go see a doc.

Don't buy into the media.

Have you ever looked at statistics for people who die of the flu every year?

Some people seem to forget that the H1N1 is a severe respiratory illness. Sore throat and runny nose won't kill anyone.

I got a pretty intense flu last week. Even though my throat looked like the average Left 4 Dead enemy, I breathed without a lot of trouble.

I don't know, I think there's a some overreaction. Medias around here are pretty reassuring, but I think that's what fuels the paranoia.

apparently 36,000 a year. but that's mostly the elderly and babies. whereas this flu is dropping people in the 18-35 range.
