Switching an HD between a laptop and a netbook?

Sign in to disble this ad
I currently have an 80G drive in my laptop, and am looking at netbooks for a nefarious purpose that only requires a small screen and a small drive.

The 8.9" acer One has a 120G drive, and I was wondering if anyone knew if I could just swap the drives.

BTW, I would be (re)installing an OS (Ubuntu) on both if I did the swap.

as long as both drives use the same connectors (i.e.: SATA or IDE pinset) and are the same size, you should be fine to swap. At least, AKAIK.

Invest in a 1tb usb drive.
90$ and you won't have to worry about taking laptops apart which is a pain in the ass.

I've got a 250gb I got from cdw for 50$.

Actually, the nefarious purpose is to make the future netbook into a drum machine with Hydrogen.

I don't really need a huge drive for that, and I have been looking at having a bigger drive in my current laptop.

You can beat it at any time and in any place. Nice.
