Tabasco or Frank's Red Hot?

Sign in to disble this ad
The miracle Whip/Mayo thread got me thinking. (Which is often dangerous.)

My girlfiend is a serious Tabasco user whereas I prefer Frank's Red Hot for my all around hot sauce needs.

We keep Cholula, Tampatio and Sriracha hot sauces in the house for specific uses.

We go through a LOT more hot sauce than any other condiment.

Where do you folks stand in the hot sauce wars?

Tabasco goes on oysters. And in Bloody Marys?

Frank's goes on everything.

I mean, speaking strictly about only these 2 hot sauces. It's not really similar to the mayo/MW thread because here we have about 5000 more options.

Tabasco goes on everything, pizza, red spaghetti sauce, chili, New England Clam Chowder, Eggs, Bacon, Potatoes.

You can put Tabasco on anything and make it better.

You can however put Sriracha on Tabasco and make heaven in your mouth. Hot, spicy, tear watering, heaven.

Between the 2, I'll go with McIlhenny's Tabasco... that Frank's stuff is weak.

One or the other - Franks Red Hot.

Though I use Cholula and Tapatio most often,

I generally only put sriracha on dim sum and in pho.

And now I want dim sum. Dammit.

We roll our own, of course. Habanero-infused Cockspur rum is number one here. If I go out Sriracha is my main squeeze, for sure.

At last count I had 17 different hot sauces in the cabinet.
Hot sauce/salsa is a food group.

If you really want to spice it up, try some of this:

They sell it at World Market.

+1

Given the choice in the OP, I'll take Tabasco.

Tapatio is also great stuff.

Tapatio or Cholula over Tabasco

Frank's over Tabasco

Sriracha over all of them.

On everything. All food is simply a vehicle for Sriracha to get to my mouth.

I'd drink it straight, if I wasn't sure it would kill me.

That said, I think Red Hot is a little bit more versatile than Tabasco, but it tastes... Cheaper.

We do too, and occasionally branch out to others (Melinda's, etc). Always on the lookout for a great one.
