Proper training should be required first, but this safety looks amazingly efficient. My hat's off to this guy.

I don't care how much faith I had in that mechanism, there is no amount of money you would pay me to 'sample' that device with my own finger!

However that slow-mo footage is absolutely stunning!

wow, it's so awesome that username sooooo wins at the net that this is old news to ya, but I hadn't seen it. and I appreciate the link.

Think of the bandwidth we could save if our internet saviour could show us the light.

And knifemaker, I agree, but I can't tell ya how many times I've seen trained people get right in the line of some gnarly kickbacks...and some intense bloodletting at the shop I used to work at. I guess sometimes you never learn

With all the knifing you do, I'm surprised you haven't lost a little of something...

I cut and ding myself often but hardly ever with knives. The very last thing I do is sharpen the blades and do a final assembly. The most dangerous machines IMHO are drill presses and buffers. I get dinged the most often with my grinding belts. What sucks is they just remove skin so grinding belt wounds take a long time to heal over. That's where the crazy glue repairs come in handy The stainless foil I wrap my blades in for heat treating is also especially NASTY to work with.

only if the design is fool proof......saws are sometimes running all day,and often used and abused.....some people would rely on this feature and accidents due to poor maintenance/over confidence could result

That happens in all industries and shouldn't be used as an excuse to nix a good idea.
