The NHL season is coming, and I'm firing up the league Talkbassers On Ice once again.

So far we have three teams returning from last season. I have set a maximum of ten teams.

Once you join, you may start preranking the players for the draft. We'll have a live draft on Saturday, Sept 26 at 5:00 PM Eastern Time (2:00 PM Pacific). You can be present and select live during the draft or if you can't make it, let it autopick for you using your prerankings or Yahoo's default rankings.

I'd join, but I can't make the draft and with yahoo blocked at work, I wouldn't be able to manage the roster during my lunch and prep. Good luck with it though, and, as always, huge props to the Whalers logo (2nd best in NHL history, imho, those who know me will easily figure out my 1st choice).

Nope, they're my 3rd favorite logo (gotta respect the Original 6, 'nuff said). If you read my commentary in last season's NHL thread, my loyalties are to the team I think has the best logo The Whale gets the bump to #2 because I think it was extremely creative how they fit the H and W in the logo, it's simplistic elegance, like the stylized B in the spoked wheel of tthe Bruins logo, and the colors work nicely without making the eyes burn.

Good luck. I'm not in the league, but hopefully you'll join the NHL thread once the season starts (even if you're a Pens fan MJ5150 is a Pens fan who's also a good guy, hopefully you'll fit the same mold )

Well said. I'm pumped for the new season, especially since I'm FINALLY getting my retirement settlement from Circuit City next week (apparently I had a small pension from the commission days which is being disbursed as a lump sum payment, check is being mailed on Monday) and I've talked the wife into letting me redo the entertainment center - I'm getting a nice 47" Toshiba Regza LCD (1080p w/240Hz clearscan) new stand, and blu-ray. The other option was another bass or two. She's actually excited about the new TV, and hockey is going to be so much better in high def compared to the 27" tube TV I'm replacing.

After I repaint (bright Semigloss White and the highest gloss black Benjamin Moore makes for the trim), I'm considering putting up a banner of the Wings championships on the wall and replicas of the retired Wings jersey banners as well. If I do it, I'll post a pic of the hockey shrine.
