TalkBass of guitar?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey TB,

I apologize for committing a taboo and mentioning the "g" word, but I'm just wondering - is there a forum of TalkBass stature for guitar?

I've attempted to ask for some help with an overdrive pedal (when I play on two notes simultaneously, it screeches and dies out) over at MX (Sputnik), and all they seem to tell me is to play on the high e string and about hamburgers with mayonnaise.

I love talkbass, and I pretty much go here exclusively for bass, but I also play guitar as well, so I'm just looking for a similar resource.

Thanks!

Oh man, I'm still a high school student, so when I witness a group of them together, things can get pretty nasty!

Though, I do find the occasional humble guitarist now and then, but I wouldn't necessarily categorize those as guitarists (now as that term has a negative connotation); more as musicians (I use this term more often than their instrument title, unless if they only "play" that instrument).

Thanks for those links btw, I'll check them out (The Gear Page looks more promising than most I have wandered into).

And +10,000 to mohawk. Unless you find a group of non-obnoxious, MUSICAL, respectful guitarists. Who would fill a small ballroom.

If you find one, treasure him (or her). They are rare creatures.

Check out http://www.jsguitarforum.com/. It is a very active forum and is one of the first resources I go to with a question. The forum is not made up of guitards, but of musicians that genuinely care about helping others and sharing knowledge.

The BEST guitar forum I have ever been to.

Effects-related question? Ask it on TB, there are a couple of guys who will answer no problem.

There is only one forum out there for guitars that's like talkbass - well run, properly moderated, passionate and knowledgeable membership, and that is the Fender Discussion Page, the FDP.

I'm came from that forum before I switched to here. Username's Cody_Grey102. What's your question? I can help seeing as I play as well.

By the way, yes, most of the guitarists there are rather obnoxious. Some even leak into the bass forum...

Both are more heavy metal oriented, but in terms of technical knowledge (both playing and gear-wise) I find them hard to beat.
