They can be seen in several photos shoots wearing either red and white or blue and white scarves/hats/rosettes - less obvious initially because most photos from the sixties were B&W.
There was also the time McCartney was alleged to be about to invest in EFC back in the early 90's. He was a friend of the Moores family and was seen at the Hilton with the then chairman Peter Johnson. Turned out to be a chance meeting between friends.
There is a generation of fellas - my old man included - who swear blind that they saw John, Paul, George or Ringo at a game once!
The truth is I suspect they actually cared little for football, or indeed sport of any kind. Other than Lennon being seen at a baseball game in the 70's, I can't think of any paparazzi shot of any Beatle at any sporting event? | Very interesting background info. Thanks.
I tend to agree with you that they weren't big sports fans in general - not sure when they would have found the time when they were together. While some celebrities are pretty out with their fandom - Jack Nicholson with the Lakers and Spike Lee with the Knicks are two noted examples; many tend to keep it on the down low so as not to tick off their fans who might be supporters of other teams.

Musicians, TV personalities, film stars etc...none of them shy away from the question of who they support. I always find it interesting when I find out who a particular favourite actor/musician supports. Funnily enough, if I find out they are a red, I go right off them |

That lad that rang in Talksport(I think)and went through the Liverpool squad, and compared them to Man Utd counterparts, and man for man declared each Liverpool player to be better, and the team as a whole to be better than United, only for the presenter to dead pan ask him, "Why are you 26 points behind them then?" Glorious.

Played them off the park
Cheated yet again by a clown of a referee who refused to see that grabbing and throwing a player into the back of the net is, a penalty... Had to have been at least 5 occasions when a penalty was the only decision possible
Ambrose - winner of African Cup of Nations - thought he was a liability from the first time I saw him in a Celtic strip-unfortunately he delivered that in triplicate.
Same as last time we played Juve - cheated by a ref |

Wonder what price Ladbrokes will offer on a 4-0 win for your lot at Juve. Worth a tenner? |

It's often hilarious. Much better than listening to that slimy get Eddie Mair on Radio 4.

Bwahahahah... | I'll be honest, even though they lost again at home, I need to ease off on the local bragging rights until its a mathematical certainty that they can't finish above us.
Ps. I've just had a Liverpool haircut. A mess at the back, nothing up front and sides are a joke.
AND it cost me £150m quid. |

With all those cameras there anyway, why the hell don't they use them? Surely they could come up with a video referral system that's not too obtrusive? At the very least, it might stop some of the blatant diving nonsense. |

Football, for me, is the most 'human' of games. It's working class roots, the emotions, the rivalries, the drama, the elation, the disappointment....90 minutes of just immersing yourself and pinning your own hopes and expectations on the 11 fellas wearing your shirt.
But it's more than just what happens during the game. It's waiting for MOTD, the Sunday papers, the post-match beer and evenings on the town after a thumping derby win or away day victory.
And more importantly, the banter, the debates, the arguments, the discussions - whether with your mates or in threads like this.
I don't want the game to become stop-start and sterile, with the talking points resolved there and then. What would we talk about if we couldn't dispute bad tackles or disputed penalties? Even goal-line technology used only when there is potential dispute over whether the ball crossed the line or not...I'm happy with things as they are, but then I'm very traditional in my views about the game.
I think the only time replays should be used is at half time when we can all laugh at this sort of thing on big screens: http://youtu.be/x4fsLeCjB4s |
