He seems a good upgrade from Santos, but, there are pressing needs on this team that aren't getting filled. I don't expect a bunch of 40 million dollar players, but they CAN buy some quality. | Quote:

I say he wants to "flash the cash", but I can't remember the exact wording, IIRC, it's more on a "what you are capable of" level(and you are capable of a lot more), rather than the Cit/ski sinkhole.

Pretty class actually. Not Sabbath though.

Just enough to add to a bit quality and some depth. I think the board are a mob of gits. Selling Alex Song was the most stupid decision I've seen in years, considering neither he, nor Wenger wanted him to go, and hasn't it hurt their midfield?. If this Russian is willing to throw some cash around, why the hell don't the let him? I'm sure it's all club politics and intrigue, but I just want a football team that's capable of challenging for the title. I don't know much about this Umnanov guy, but he'd get my vote for Chairman of the Board, especially if it's his own money he's willing to spend.

The trend over the last year or so has been moving away from pure destroyer/holder and go for more of an all-arounder. Once could say the transition of Song's role for Wenger from being a pure holder to more of an all-arounder may have meant Wenger was ahead of the time, which makes it even more puzzling to see Song let go so easily. |

"We've been accused of not taking the FA Cup seriously. I've won it four times. Name a manager that's won it more"
Er, hasn't Ferguson won it five times?
Anyway, the journos certainly looking to push his buttons.
I see Paul Ince has taken over at Blackpool, which means he gets to manage his son.
Other than Cloughie at Forest, has this happened anywhere else? No googling |

Good call on Dalglish though. |

I couldn't do that on FIFA on my Xbox.

Good call on Dalglish though. | I definitely remember Darren playing for us around the earlyish 90s under his dad. And Frank Lampard Sr was definitely on the coaching staff with 'Arry at West Ham. Let me check my facts though...

And Frank Lampard I was assistant manager at West Ham (under brother-in-law 'Arry) when Frank Lampard II started his career. I think he should get double points playing for his father and uncle.

"Y'all"??? What am I saying??? | I can't see it on the phone either but from the still image and following comments I guess "y'all" are looking at Van Persie showing some outrageous skills?

He's really just peeked the last couple of seasons, and when he's not scoring goals, he's creating them. Considering the money spent on other players in the league, you can't say he wasn't good value.
The sad thing is, if Arsenal had been challenging for titles and/or won some silverware, they probably could held on to Van Persie. Unlike a lot of other fans, I understand his decision. At his age, he wants to win some silverware. You can't really blame a player for that. Alex Song didn't want to leave, so why on earth would they transfer a player of his quality? Now Arteta seems to get the role as the defensive midfielder, and that's just not his position. It's stuffed up their whole midfield.
It's just a shame they didn't spend that RVP money more wisely, and they should actually pay some club a couple of million to take Gervinho- why does he does get put on the team sheet, ever? Arsharvin is the same, and one or two others will never be first team players. There should have been a bit more wheeling and dealing in the transfer window (though at least they bought a decent left back to replace that clown Santos.
They should bring back Bendtner too, who's been quite impressive at Juventus whenever I've seen him play. I've always thought him a very good prospect.
