In Boston, this ownership group was quick to sack the obviously wrong manager (Bobby Valentine) after one year with the Red Sox (even with a year left on his contract) but that was a total disaster. Rodgers and LFC are having a much better year so far than Valentine and the Red Sox had last year. If it were football, the Red Sox last year would have been relegated and that would have been only 5 years after the equivalent of the PL title and 2 years from a top 5 Europa League type season.

Hey Titus, what are ya'll feeding the Irish lad?
Mad.

| What the hell is right
2007 96-66 American League champs - Won World Series
2008-11 89 to 95 win seasons; playoffs twice
2012 69-72 12th of 14 teams; worse Red Sox record in 47 years
Not only did they lose, they were a very highly paid, underperforming and overall unlikable group difficult to support and hard to watch.
Fortunately, we were able to unload three of most overpaid/underperforming/unlikable players (Beckett, Gonzales, and Crawford) onto the LA Dodgers and the team has started to rebuild. If everything breaks in their favor, they are a longshot to be right back into the playoffs, but more likely this is a bridge/rebuilding year and they'll make a run at it in 2014.
EDIT - to keep this somewhat on topic - some fans/reporters/sports radio hosts here partially blamed the ownership group's infatuation/distraction with their new toy in Liverpool for the Red Sox collapse. Of course, I understand that some LFC supporters feel the same way about the Sox and the NASCAR racing team sucking resources that should go toward a major splash in the transfer market. There is a reason that the word fan is derived from fanantic and there are plenty on both sides of the Atlantic.

| | | | Heh, everyone blaming each other. I'm afraid that's the price of having a few irons in the fire.
I need to keep a better eye on baseball, but it seems I'm not missing much.
Lads, is it me, or does it seem like there are more stoppages for the footballs deflating lately?

That is one of the similaries between the franchises - Fenway turned 100 last year, it is as loved/hallowed as Anfield. The red seat is where Ted Williams, the greatest hitter ever, hit a home run an ungodly distance - well over 500 feet - no one has come close in over 50 years.
By the way - have they found out who ate all the pies? I thought Scotland Yard would have figured it out by now.

I've been planning a football game involving beer, keep forgetting my progress after the game though, need to start taking notes.... Quote:

City v United should be tasty. |

| | | | Tell ya what, I'd take a 94th minute winner off of anyones arse tomorrow, ref included....
A monumental screwup by Hart and Tevez would be highly entertaining, though.

Great game, I think the City comeback and last minute winner would make it good for neutrals too.
City fans are a freaking disgrace, some of their players too. Amazing that Tevez got away without a well deserved red.
