That was the best I've seen Walcott play - he was outstanding.
I hate diving (who doesn't) - I think Carzolo's penalty last week was even worse than Bale's, but to brag about it like it's a legitimate tactic makes me sick. Personally, if I was a referee, I'd take things like that into consideration when it comes to close decisions in future games. If a player has a history of diving, why should refs give them the benefit of the doubt? Bale basically said he was a cheat, and would continue to cheat in the future! Refs should treat players like that with extreme prejudice.
What do you all think about suspensions for players who blatantly dive? I generally don't much like "post-game video" bans, but diving and play acting is getting completely out of hand. Perhaps a 2 or 3 match ban might be a deterrent? |

But should the said reputation affect refereeing decision? So is Bale going to get penalized for any and all falls even if there's legitimate contact/foul and the ref is unsure or just happens to be 50/50 about it? Maybe these retroactive penalties for simulation will curb players in the long run, but by same measure, these decisions should be allowed to be appealed for questionable calls. |

They were there for the taking today. But if you don't take your chances against teams like Chelsea, in all likelihood you'll get punished.
Gutted.
Time for my once-a-year "come on QPR" shout. |

Walcott showed yesterday he can be brilliant, but he had a few real howlers too. Twice on breakaways he completely muddled things up. The 2 and 1 with Cazorla where he passed 2 yards behind the sprinting Spaniard, and the 3 on 2 where Podolski didn't have a defender within 10 yards of him, and Walcott went on his own and hit it straight at the keeper. |

Just a shame that chance to go third went begging.
...and Suarez scores as I type.... |

Shame Jelavic couldn't bury that at the end. |

Shame Jelavic couldn't bury that at the end. | Yep. He joined City 10 years ago after several years in France. We snapped him from Portsmouth. Good, solid defender, but starting to look a bit creaky. |

Today he looked to have some of it back.
Also, Newcastle made Villa look half decent yesterday. Today, QPR is making any team not named QPR look half decent. |

Make him dive, charge or reach...but never "pass" it to him! Otherwise he did have a great match, which was really fun to see in the end. |

It was nice to see him pop up and score after contact in the box, rather than flop around on the ground acting like his femur is shattered like a certain pale, big eared, hairless chimp lookalike who also plays in north London would have done. |

I like how all the gooners (not just in here) are coming out to bash Bale for this, and fair enough rightfully so because I don't agree with his attitude either, but when Cazorla did it, general attitude seemed "a win is a win". lol |

He's not quite ready for the Sarries front line...and I guess that's a different thread discussion...but still refreshing to see him man up! |

I think the fact that Bale actually defended his actions is what has so many people annoyed. |

His pace scares the hell out of defenders, and his finishing is getting better and better. He's their best option anyway, so may as well give him a shot. |

I won't defend it. However, he had one blatant dive. Chimpboy has about 1 a week. |

I hear the new training ground has a diving pool so Bale can do it 7 days a week, if needed. Quote:
