| | | | Incredible, magnificent, remarkable, unbelievable....
That night will go down in history for Celic, I'd be heavily surprised if it didn't add quite a few pence on to Fosters value too.
As for United, freakshow, insanely lucky to be taking any points from that, never mind 3.

| | | | Just see the Celtic highlights, both goals were quality, Foster had to be man of the match? All them saves and an assist?
I'm sure Gerrard will be along later to moan about the 2nd goal.

My MOTM was Wanyama he was excellent all over the pitch - I'd say he has made a huge transfer fee for Celtic tonight there will be a lot of interest coming in January for him... |

Barcelona completely dominated in every way so I'm surprised anyone would think it was a glorious night for Celtic. Yes, they won, but they didn't outplay Barca by any stretch of the imagination. It's the nature of the sport that the better team doesn't always win, so there's nothing shocking about the result. I was rooting for Celtic, by the way, so don't think I'm trying to diminish the victory.

The look of fear in the Catalan eyes before kick-off as the Celtic fans rocked the stadium (literally). An 18 year old lad, young Tony Watt scoring the winning goal. Ah yesss, the stuff of dreams... Wonderful win for The Hoops.
I know you're not trying to diminish the victory, I just think "the result" isn't everything when it comes to sport. There's so much more to it than that. Sorry if I'm a bit " " lads, ye know yerself.. |

Anyone who knows anything about football knows what I mean. |

Football at this level and in this competition IS about the result -
Barca showed lots of good attacking skills - Celtic's attacking skills resulted in 2 goals, Barca only 1 the object of the game is to score goals, and not to have a lot of meaningless possession, and 'tic maximised their attacking possession.
The object of possession is to score goals and stop the other team doing so - Barca failed to do that with about 5 times as much possession as Celtic had - Celtic used their lesser possession to maximum effect - so objectively what does that say?
The' tic defending skills were magnificent, again Barca let in 2, Celtic 1 - defensive objectives achieved - especially bearing in mind that both Song and Macherano should have been off, one as a result of having to commit at least three yellow card offences in midfield to try and stop the Celtic midfielders and the other - well everyone saw it-does anyone have any doubt as to what the outcome would have been if that had been at the other end and Messi had been pulled back?
There's a lot more to football than easy possession and passing and Celtic showed that last night and also in Barcelona - I love watching great skills and think Barca are the best football team in the world going forward - defensively not so - but last night Celtic took them on, and played magnificently as a team and to their strengths and beat them, so yes, it was a fantastic result a great night and I am very proud of my team, and their spirit and their performance.
I am willing to bet that anyone on this board who supports a premiership team would equally be bursting with pride if their team had played like that and achieved that result. And remember, there are several Premiership teams and others with very unhappy memories of European nights at Parkhead.
Aak Barca what they would rather have had from the night 84% possession or a 2-1win....
(sorry for the rant lads but as my esteemed colleague above said, ye know yerself!) |

| | | | The fact that Barca "dominated" only makes it more magical.
Celtic were held siege at Parkhead, Barca laid over 900 successful passes, 89% possession, 27 shots, and got away with some fouls that should have had players off.
Celtic survived though, and not only that, but won! Each player, to a man played out of their skins, and used what few chances were given to them, and David slew Goliath's bigger, harder brother.
This is football at it's very best.

Those matches will go much the same way as the Celtic match. So it seems like something of an insult to Celtic, to imply that the result was amazing or shocking in some way.
I saw the match with South American commentators, and they didn't mention anything about a 125th anniversary or a depleted squad, so now I understand the sentiment a bit better.
