I love this place. It's great.
I'm really having to work around the fact that three characters are needed. I'm so often having to figure out how to get a two character search done.
The last straw for me was fail after fail looking for info on 'RG basses'. Such a great site, with so much emphasis on search etiquette, doing your due diligence to search before posting, and rightly so. But why so hampered in our efforts? I can't think of another search I use that is so restricted.
Surely it can't be a bandwidth issue. The lack of efficiency in doing multiple searches to find information on 4, 5 or 6 string basses, or 10 vs. 12 vs 15 vs 18 inch speakers, such common terminology in our dialogue must outweigh the number of extra posts you'd get.
Perhaps we'd all have to get alittle better at refining our searches, but there are a few little tricks I'm sure we can all master in order to have access to a full search feature. Perhaps, at the user's discretion they can avoid 1 and 2 character searches, or if there is an importance I'm not seeing, perhaps it can be a filter than is on by default, but the user can disable?
FYI, I did only one search into the main level before posting this: "talkbass search." I realized I might do better searching for "TB search," and my head exploded a little. I even had "TB" in the Title of this post, which I changed for compatibility with TB's search engine.
Please, oh please? Can we have it all???
I think this just may be my Waterloo.

Sorry, it's the mathematician in me struggling to get out.
But, let's not get bogged down in that. Pac Man, can you help? Can you explain this policy, or give any hope that it may one day change?
Thanks!!!!
