Question Talkbassers: Smarter than the Average human?

Sign in to disble this ad
every time somebody initiates a thread in OT about grades and test scores, it seems that the overwhelming majority of the teen population (and adults who can remember how they did) are enrolled in honors classes, get top grades, achieve very high relative standardized test scores, and are quite intelligent in general.

Is the talkbass population smarter than your average human?

Test scores and grades are not a measure of intelligence.

the SAT 1 is, to an extent. It focuses mainly on reasoning and analysis skills.

Probably either people are lying or the only ones saying their test scores etc are the ones that are smart enough to brag about it.

Perhaps the members who have/had low grades are not posting about it.

They most definitely are, they just aren't an unerringly accurate measure of intelligence.

Well, it mostly depends on the subject of the test. If its the kind of subject where all you need to do is to memorize theory, then it really isn't a measure of intelligence while something like a physics exams, where you have to concentrate and solve problems would be a much much better measure of intelligence. It still wouldn't be a good measure since someone could be good in physics and be a total ****** in languages, but still better than exams about memorizing stuff.

Keep in mind that despite any one person's opinion, if most of the colleges in the world look at ACT/SAT scores, the tests must be, if not optimal, the best thing we have to measure intelligence.

Also the word "******" is offensive. Not to me personally, but on a community as large as this, you probably don't want that up lest someone is bothered by it.
