talkbass's own leroy jenkins <- epic read

Sign in to disble this ad
we have our very own, only his name isn't leroy, it's larry. larry neal jenkins, to be specific.

only, instead of charging into massive crowds of critters and causing havoc to his friends, this poor soul has created over 30 different accounts (All with different registration ip's and/or emails) to try and get around his original "larryj" account permaban over 7 years ago.

you guys know we have a moditorium where we discuss you all (including maki and that tp he's been dragging behind on his shoe the past few days, don't tell him) but the biggest lolz are had by your friendly neighborhood mod/admin staff about the guys who most of you folks don't even know exist. one of the consequences of running a tight ship - you guys don't really get to see most of the fun folks that we deal with, except for those few rare psycho individuals who we can't shake, and even there, those guys' posts get deleted, and so their presence is only known of by us and a few others.

take this thread's namesake. this guy has gone on and on in various nicknames (multiple "casey" nicknames, various permutations of lnjbass, multiple "real deal" type names and variants) all to get around his aptly deserved ban from so long ago, so that he can log in and, always, like clockwork, within 20 posts of a fresh start, -troll- folks again with the -exact same schtick-.

there's so much humor to this character, so much epic fail, that it's difficult for me to convey to you, the OT-reading public, but i'll try.

if any of you remember some of his more recent outtings, he's taken great pains to ascribe to himself quite the professional career, going so far as to have simultaneous -sock puppets- going on where he tries to gang up on folks who dare call him on his b.s. with his multiple e-personalities. he has even, and to this i swear, carried on multi-part conversations with himself in various guises in the middle of threads.

a few of you have been the recipients of pm's from one of his various accounts, where he even parades the fact that he thinks he's actually getting away with this, and that he can just create another new account whenever he likes. i have copies of many of those pm's (and if any of you guys have some that you haven't forwarded to me, please, do so), and i might even share em with the rest of the class.

what's even worse - if you do a google on his name, you'll see his webpage, and he's not some teenager abusing a cat, he's actually ostensibly a grown up. he actually wants to maintain some kind of professional presence in the bass world. and yet he comes to the biggest bass forum on the internet and pulls this crap, thinking he can act this way with impunity.

you know, usually the folks that pull this kind of crap are in their mid teens. they do their thing, make a mess, get some giggles, and then grow out of it or move on to other things. but this... this has been going on here at talkbass for almost -7 years-. the sheer tenacity of this troll is worthy of note, the dedication to being some part of a community, no matter how pathetic that part is, and no matter how much that community universally loathes his presence, is certainly worth -some- kind of award.

and just think, right now, as we type, despite everything, including the threat of being outted, there's undoubtedly another LNJ sock puppet being stitched up here at tb. it's good to know that you can count on some things.

you may be wondering why i'm sharing this with you guys. beyond my desire to let you guys in on some of the fun we have, i also want to take this opportunity to encourage you folks to not feed the obvious trolls. if it smells like a duck, please hit the report this duck button .

Thanks JT. I personally would like to see some actual consequences for this guy's actions, like the one I mentioned to you in a PM about emailing the guy's boss with examples of his "work".

that would be an extra bonus, but really just wanted to spread the lulz. no reason why i should hog em to myself. and i'm sure, eventually, when all his crap get's attached to his real name - including pm's that will get undoubtedly get posted - folks will think twice before associating their products with him (any who are foolish enough to considering doing so in the first place).

Does sound like there's a whole world we don't know about behind the scenes at talkbass. Being a mod or admin would be fun, but having a backstage pass without having the responsibility would be great

I'd have to e-mail him about it, if I PM him then I'm sure you'd have a sneaky look and lock that way out faster than maki failed at tripping that guy on tv.

LNJ. Hmmm. Why does this look so familiar? Why am I suddenly overcome with the urge to buy a snuggie?
