I like Kat Von D's tatoos she wears them well, except for that cluster of stars near her hair line.

A co-worker recently lost her grandmother. While preparing the body at the funeral home, she was discovered to have a tattoo of a guys name on her ass. It was not Grampa's name and in fact none of the family members knew of its existence or who it referred to.

I suspect this will be a much more common experience in the years to come.

It was especially amusing to hear this from the very uptight and proper Mormon granddaughter.

You could have on one end of the spectrum, the Kat Von D / Suicide Girl look, where a girl is heavily inked, yet still attractive because the tattoos are part of who she is.

Aaaaaaand then there is the other end of the spectrum, which I'll just call the 'Amy Winehouse' end.

I see a LOT of people who look like they let their toddlers draw on them with tattoo guns. It's never a good thing.

If I can tell thought and skill went into your tattoo, then I'm a lot more likely to appreciate it.

If clearly either or both are lacking. Most likely I will not.
I know it's lame to quote yourself. But I have a perfect example. Scarlett Johansen, one of the most beautiful women on the planet, recently got a tat on her side, say about even with the bottom of her ribcage. It says "lucky you" around a horseshoe. And it looks like it was done by a not-very-gifted middle schooler.

Scarlett is pretty much ruined for me now. It's not because she got a tattoo. It's because she got a stupid and badly done one.

Honestly, when I grew up the only people (men or women) with tattoos were looked upon as a bit unsavory; bikers, criminals, etc. That's always stuck with me. Not saying that's the case now --- I know of nice little Grannies getting the same tattoos as their daughters and granddaughters, but it's the reason I've never gotten one, wanted one, or seriously dated someone with ink (yes, I know...but I look at it as a way to judge someone's thought process, and tattoos just aren't my thing). I think they are goofy.

Not necessarily. I knew a Suicide Girl, and she was not cool at all. She had no sense of self, no substance, and was all about the superficial. I almost hooked up with her once, but then I threw up on her.

The crazy part is actually getting that cat to sit still long enough to get that ink in it's skin. I do NOT envy that tattoo artist.
