I bet dollar to donuts that cat was put under for that cat tat.

Perhaps the cat is only sporting a temporary tat?

I really need to stop putting jokes at the end of serious posts to lighten them up a bit. There's no "tone-of-voice" that can be heard over teh interwebz.

Good job puking on a chick, though! Was it like the reverse of that scene in "40 Year Old Virgin"?

If I recall correctly, we were at a friends house celebrating someones birthday. We were all a bit drunk, but as was my usual self-destructive self back then I had overindulged. I didnt know a girls voice could annoy me to the point of vomiting, but there it was.

Oh, wait this thread is about tatoos. Okay, so furthermore I pretty much agree w/ Dr. Cheese, that most tatoos detract from the beauty of a person's body.

Most of them.

But holy hell, the 0.0001% of tatoos that do enhance a woman's body, cot-dayum they get me harder than trigonometry! HNNNNNNNNNGGGG!

Oops, sorry 'bout that, I seem to have momentarily lost control there. Uh, as I was saying, I think most tatoos don't help. Too big, too garish, don't compliment (or even acknowledge) the lines of the body part they're drawn on, a lot of them seem more concerned with what they "say" or what they mean (sic) than what they look like (sort of like the Syntax versus Semantics trope). Some of them would be beautiful art if only they weren't on a body part!

So yeah, most tatoos really don't work for me aesthetically.

I think you and I agree 100%. In all fairness, some small tatoos are pretty sexy, but I would just as soon see a painting on a canvas. All of that artwork just interferes with nature's handiwork when it's on a woman's body the majority of the time.

Tattoos, any tattoo is distracting and takes away from the beauty of the body.
As my daddy used to tell me,
"Anyone wimp or yahoo with a few dollars can get a tattoo, it takes a real man to not succumb to peer pressure or trend"
"If the tattoo is so freaking awesome, get a picture of it and hang it on the wall so everyone can see it"
"Trust me, 25 years from now, no young-in's are gonna be gettin' tattoos and will be making fun of all the old folks with blurry, ugly ink all over their body"
My dad, God rest his soul, didn't mince words

I don't know twenty-five years ago is roughly when the current phase began and those original trendsetters are now grandparents. The most extreme of it was once seen as pagan, and banned by Judism and Islam, thus suppressed for a while in human history. That fear of God and measure of social control is gone and the only thing that will stop it is the cost to get it done. Yet with so many artist in competition suppressing the price that is not an control either

I'm really quite surprised by a lot of the comments in this thread. For a community of musicians, who so often are regarded as forward thinking and "radical" (I'm trying to avoid the whole rock'n roll tag but you know what I mean without typecasting everyone here as I know there are people here who play all kinds of music.) there seems to be a surprising number of people with very narrow views and a lot of insecurities.

Just an observation.

I for one absolutely love tattoos on girls although obviously the tattoos themselves are important. As a reflection of the character of the person they are on if I like a person I'm likely to like their tattoos and vice versa. I do find them to be highly attractive too which helps

Yeah, I went out with a girl who had the most gorgeous tatoos on her back - all flowers and vines - looked fantastic. So long as the tats themselves are tasteful, I like them on women. Since women generally have much better taste than men, they usually have much better tats.

This. It's amazing how many people will follow what ever trend comes along.

Hmmm - tattoos date back over 5000 years. That is one hellofa trend. Personally I like em, and don't think all are meant to impress anyone other than the bearer. YMMV

Girls with sleeves - tramp stamps are pretty recent "trends".

I believe that a lot (probably most) tattoos gotten today are done to impress others.

Maybe, there is no way anyone can know that answer really. However, I am glad they have made a resurgence - mmmmmm a pretty girl with a sleeve!
