Where do I go to find out what gets taken out of my pay for taxes, I have work on Friday so I can ask then but was wondering if there was an online thing to figure it out. Any help is appreciated.

It will depend on how you filled out your deduction form...........Did you fill out a deduction forum?? If you just started, you will have to set that up with your employer and which time you would find out approximately what your take home pay will be.

The IRS might have a some sort of calculator on their website but if you have to pay state taxes, you'll have to factor that in as well.

I have no dependants. I'm a minor, so I'm sure my employer just filled them out.

I'm assuming you're doing your taxes? You should receive a W-2 at the end of each year that breaks it all down for you. They are supposed to be post marked no later than Jan. 31st, meaning you should have received one by now.

If you want to know on a per paycheck basis, most companies will print the breakdown on the pay stub with a running total of the whole year as well. If not, ask the accounting department, or in a small firm's case, the guy that writes the checks.

No, you should have filled them out. He can't do it for you.

You can claim zero dependents or 1. The "1" is you.

If you choose 1 they will take out less so you get more in each paycheck. You will get back less at the end of the year.

If you chose zero they take more, but you will probably get more back.

Did you get a W-2? There should be listed, near your annual wages, the federal tax that was taken out, and near the bottom, the state tax taken out.

Ah, I see. Well, you can take your pay stub and see how much they took out in taxes and do a quick equation.

Total Tax Witholding (divided by) Total Gross Pay = Roughly how much your paying in taxes.

Once you get that first stub, you can figure out what your annual pay and withholding will be. Then you can enter them into the tax form and make a pretty good guess of what your refund will be. Of course you will be using this year's form, so it won't be totally accurate, but will probably be close. Also, you have to keep those stubs.

I worked under the table jobs for 2 years now, this is the first on the books. I keep my clock out slips and I will keep my pay stubs.
