The TB cat

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello guys, this thread is to introduce my newly adopted cat. she was found near my house, after she was abandoned by her mother (according to the vet, she is 1 and 1/2 months. Usually cat moms stop looking after their babies when they're 1 month old.) So I've decided to adopt her. The problem is I've already got 2 cats and they don't seem to like the idea of a nescomer and I don't really know what to do. I really like the newcomer but the money isn't really good now to pay for more cat food, but I don't really want to get rid of the new cat.
I guess my thread and questions go toward this:
What should I do? Should I keep her? If not, what would you reccomend? If you reccomend me to keep her, suggest some names please, maybe she could become the TB resident cat

Name her Treble, since she's so little. How many floors do you have in your house? By my experience, cats tend to take floors as territory... like, one of my cats dwells in the downstairs, one in the upstairs. If one comes upstairs, the other one will find her and they tend to fight about it a bit. Do your other cats seem to be territorial?

Give it time for other the cats to adjust to her as they usually will. I've owned quite a few cats over the years and I know the troubles that arise when a new one comes into the fold. As for you keeping her, you'll have to decide if you want to assume the responsibility. If not, please do your best to find her a good home or put her up for adoption with your local animal shelter. Hopefully you have shelters that have a no kill policy for adoptable animals. She's a cutie, and kittens are quicker to be adopted. I hope your'e able to keep her, but getting her adopted into a good home shouldn't be a major problem other than the issues of your feeling attachment to her. I wish you the best.

personally, i'd bawl for days if i had to give up a cutie like that.

the cats definitely need some time to adjust to each other. depending on personalities, there will be fightin and stuff. but aren't cats supposed to be more accomodating of each other than other animals??

The older cats will get adjusted its just new to them, think if you had a unknown person move in.. It would be weird for you as well for a while

I've had that problem before. My old cat was chasing my (then) kitten into the crack between the refrigerator and the cabinet, where my bigger cat couldn't fit. Just a few months later, they were all over each other licking each other, and both were neutered males.

Unfortunately, the smaller cat got lost when we moved to Jacksonville and he got found later on. I heard he's adopted into a new home and I think it's better for him.

Names

Plankton
Squirt
Sludge
Lint
Ren
Nugget
Fling-Fling
Applehead
Stain
Twerplet

Feel free to 'borrow' any of my current cats' names- there's Loopy Lou, Pepe, Mai-Mai & Nostrils. Previously we've been owned by Mukka-Mukka, Issabella Ourcat(closely resembled Rosanna Arquette), Mr. Fub, Pickle, Kitty(a family name), Bugsy, Max, Nelson, Mama Kitty, Foo-Foo, Tiggr & Tiger. There was Mitten the Kitten, but she was before my time.
My brother has one named Calvin. A friend named a cat 'Jim' so that when he yelled at the cat he'd sound like Captain Kirk- 'Dammit, Jim!'

Steve, Jason, Quincy, Samantha, and a Billy.

It got pretty confusing when I had a cat and a roommate named steve......

Hey

You could butcher a TB username. Like for example, Catsteban.

Obviously, the only acceptable name is Schrödinger.

Well, I am seriously thinking about keeping the new kitty, although there are several issues I have to consider. Anyway If I can not keep her, I'll still try to find a nice home for this cute little animal.
As for names, I'll wait a while because if I name her it'll be difficult to let her go
