TB Running Thread

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all,

I didn't see any running threads (there is one for weightlifting), so here it is.

Do you run?
What are your favorite distances / average times?
Any races coming up?
Why do you run?
Anything else?

Yes - several times per week. I have 4.2 & 5 mile loops from my house. Just did the Broad Street Run in Philly (81:37, 10 miles). I am planning on running the 1/2 marathon in Philly in September, so training begins in a couple of weeks.

I run because of the feeling afterwards - like I own the world. Quite possibly one of the best feelings ever - especially when I beat my goal times!

Keep charging!

I run, but am not very good at it. We recently got a treadmill, and I ran almost everyday for three weeks and it felt great. Studying for finals set me back about two weeks and I really noticed the toll it took on me when I ran again for the first time. After my run today I'll post the results.

Runners are always in such a god damn hurry. If you walk you're get there. Why's everything gotta be an emergency?

Well, I started walking, but remembered that I have 4 really nice basses at home that need to be played, thousands of posts on TB to read, and general shuffling around the house before work.

putting life back in this one...

I officially began my training yesterday for a half marathon this coming September. 1st day was "45-90 minute run at moderate effort", so I did 7.72 miles in 64 minutes (avg. 8:17/mile). After a full week of vacation living. YEAH!

I do many, many short sprints in the span of just over an hour once or twice a week. AKA, I play squash.

Good choice, but you know the rules...

No pics, no gorgeous girlfriend

The only time I run is if something's chasing me.

Ahh, yes. Given the option, I'd not go running, too. Good choice!

Yep I run

I run every other day, around 40 to 50 km a week.
I usually run 10 to 14 km per run.
When I don't run I go to the gym and do 1h of spinning.
One day of rest a week.

oh and by the way, i don't run competitively, but need to start focusing on running every other day... run one morning, jump rope the other morning, in addition to training in the afternoon at the boxing gym..

i run really slow.. any where from 10 to 9 minute paces.. recently, i have only been running 3 miles, but need to get back into running 5 miles in the mornings (i live in a VERY hilly area)..

I combine running with swimming and I either run or swim 3 times a week. So there's always 3 or 4 days in between my sessions.

I run 50 minutes, pretty slowly, 7 or 8 k.

I'm not interested in distance, I just want train my endurance before everything.

Go on.... Logged 5 miles Saturday. About 8 min miles, trying to get back into my senior year of hs shape, I am now going into my junior year of college. Should be running every morning starting next week when i go visit the old man(theres nothing to do there, lol).

Currently running in Adidas Adistar Controls, great stability shoe, very cushion-y, while providing tons of support.

I think folks should mention their gear, shoes, for those that are checking this thread out that arent exactly runners. I sold running shoes for a while, so i know quite a bit more than i wish i did. I also own more running shoes than i know what do with.
