This place is just a good music forum. Interesting discussions about theory, band management, etc. I'm a member of a few music forums, but I like this one the best (and bass isn't my primary instrument).

You know what makes TalkBass truly great? We have a higher proportion of Icelandic moderators than any of our competitor websites.

I was wondering the same thing, and then I remembered that I decided to give the kid a second chance. So far, so good.

I spend some time on other sites that foucs on other areas of interest, but not one of them even come close to having the sense of community, humor, honesty, and compassion that is found on TB. For me, TBOT is the perfect mix of intelligent conversation and ridiculous nonsense. For lack of a better term, it's the most "human" forum I've found.

I dig this site, alright. I used to post more actively but the pace around the workplace has picked up way too much for me to do much of that lately. I still enjoy taking a quick peek at the basses when I can which gives me a little lift in my day here and there. I find all of the posters to be entertaining, informative, helpful, funny, amusing and engaging. It's a cool place!

I've learned so much because of this site, heck I've applied "slow down and play with silence" into my everyday life with amazing results. Even when I post about doing something dumb I end up getting all these bright sides I would of never noticed on my own.

I experience it differently altogether. I'm not a fan of butt kissery, and you can easily identify the moderators by the fawning replies to their posts. There is also a lot of dismissive , condescending troll behavior towards new members. Just my experience, yours may vary.

I should not of been greeted with acceptance. My writing was terrible (well it still is but it's better)... I was not even bothered to write complete words.

That and other reasons

Condescending behavior towards new members happens when new members behave in such a way to attract such attention. If you don't enjoy the vibe of this forum, there are plenty of other places where you might be more comfortable. Participation is completely voluntary. Or, you could relax a bit and reserve your judgement until you get to know the place a little better.

Personally, I identify the moderators by the word "Moderator" right there near their screen name. Another way is to break a bunch of forum rules and get some first hand experience with the Hammer of Loving Kindness.
