Smile To the TBer who plays in Taylor Swift's road band...

Sign in to disble this ad

I saw her mentioned in your profile under "Bands" a year or so ago but do not recall your TB handle.

As I type this my 9-year old daughter is up in her room singing your boss' songs at full voice volume. She has been doing this for the past half hour.

Do you have any advice on how to get her to stop? Unfortunately for me I do not drink.

Please advise.

Signed,
A Dad

I'm not Taylor Swift's bass player.... but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

I would suggest just asking your daughter to stop singing - it's the best way.

Is she singing the songs in key? This would be really hard if she's singing along with the CD's.

Use a competitive approach, my speakers are louder than yours-with your daughter. Crank up your bass & amp LOUD, or turn up YOUR stereo so that you can't hear yourself if you speak.

You gotta love earplugs!

Ha! TBer Tim Marks records with her. I'm not sure he's in her road band, though.

You can borrow my son for a while. Not only does he play gee tar and drums, he also loves the growl/scream vocals. A break from that to some Taylor Swift would be nice.

Do I like her music? No. Would I play in her band? Heck yes, I would!

I would go with the competitive approach.

I wouldn't, unless I could pull a Kanye, right before the "money note" in each of her craptastical "oeuvres".

You're complaining? My daughter is 22, and I'd give almost anything to go back to when she was nine or so, listening and singing along to the Backstreet Boys and N'Sync. So go out for a walk, stick in some earplugs, whatever. Just let her be. Years from now you'll have memories you can share with her. And you'll be like me, wishing she was young again, if only for a moment.

Go with the competitive approach if you want it to stop. I'm not a dad but an older brother who has a little sister who listens to her non stop. It works about 75% of the time with me.

I agree. So she's singing Taylor Swift. Big deal. Could be worse - suicidal death metal screaming crap or hip hop or rap. She's being 9. You're being an old fuddy duddy. My 4 year old sings all kinds of stuff. She makes up songs, she sings Bon Jovi, she sings Itsy Bitsy Spider. I love it all because I know in a blink of an eye she won't be 4 any more.

Lighten up dad.
