TBers who deserve props!

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm not sure where this really belongs, but I thought I'd start in the FX forum since this had to do with pedal generosity (mods, feel free to move this).

I want to give props to Ben (behndy) who sent me an unsolicited offer to loan me a spare filter (Groove Regulator) he had while I waited for my IE Xerograph build. I posted that I was looking for a cheap filter to tide me over after I sold my SWAW... cause I can't live (or at least play) without a filter in my line-up.

Talk Bass is such a friendly cyber place, populated with generous people... where I see acts of generosity regularly.

So I thought maybe there should be a thread where we could give props to deserving people on TB.

... a BIG up to Ben for his generosity!

Matt

I'd have to give Ed Friedland props.

He's super busy gigging and making all those kickass video reviews, but still finds time to come on TB and offer his advice to the little guys.

Bongo's name deserves to be here. He helps a lot of people sorting out the mysteries of compression. I'd be pretentious to say that I grasp 15 % of what he writes, but obviously he knows his stuff. Each time you see a new compression thread, he's on the ball. Kudos !

A TB'er (who is also a warmoth'er) was kind enough to give me a 6 string Bart pup. All the person asked in return was that I finish the bass build! I did finish the build thanks to the generosity of this individual. Again, I say thank you.

If we're keeping this relevant on the EFFECTS forum, here's my two cents...

vegas532 - Thom Brady. My go to guy in every way. Always there to talk about effects and gear, calls me from Bass Player Live and NAAM to chat, just a great guy all around. People should take advantage of his classifieds deals. I don't know anyone who lets his gear go so gratiously on this site.

Trevorus gave me a digitech 200. It has since been passed along to a bassist tat was in a similar situation as I was when it was gifted to me.

Sorry, not specific to the effects forum, but:

Props to Thunderritter and 49sfine and wave runner and all the others in the Wishbass club for helping me through my recent back surgery, and for giving a guy the best get well gift I've ever gotten. Still play her every day.

I also gotta say that these guys are the reason I'm building basses today. After refinishing that first Wishbass, I was hooked and have since gone too far and spent waaaaay too much outfitting my garage to make basses.

I was just about to say that. I'm not sure how active he is in the effects forums, but he's easily one of the most prolific and helpful TB'ers in electronics.

+1 and, yes, his instructional videos are top notch.

+1 prop to JimmyM too--informative and always fair.

I'm a little surprised MysticBoo's name hasn't popped. His demos have been responsible for probably about half of my effects purchases so far and he seems like a pretty decent guy too.

Also, Grygrx and Bongo do a fantastic job shining light on the subjects of Fuzzes and Compression respectively.

I bought a pedal from MysticBoo on eBay YEARS ago...before I ever saw him on TB. In fact, it might have been before I even joined TB. I still have the pedal too!

I forgot about 'Boo. He's been MIA lately.

Same with Spanky. And Toasted. And Tayste.

Awww...I love you, too. Mad props to rratajski for building GREAT stuff, gygrx for bassfuzz.com, bongo for being hella knowledgeable, sonny for his humor, warmth, and doom boxes...and can I honestly say that we have a really great bunch of guys on the effects forum overall?

I rarely stray from this forum ever because I've met some really great people here (Ry, Nad, Mutt...I'm talkin' to you) and it has a very family like vibe here (except for my occasional dirty joke infraction).
