Teacher of the Year

Yup. That's me.

The first thing they did was hand me a packet informing me that I now have to write two essays about my teaching. Woohoo! I now consider myself one step closer to my ultimate life goal - TBer of the Year.

In reality though I'm totally honored and humbled by the whole thing.

Nothing as grand as that. Right now it's just a school thing. I'm now automatically considered for district teacher of the year. The district TOY gets submitted for state TOY. I'm pretty sure I don't have what it takes to be state TOY at this point. This is only my 5th year of teaching and there are so many incredible teachers out there.

Still very cool. At my school I have 3 state TOY's working with me. Rather humbling if I might say. Great teachers. Congrats again Brad.

Or did you just kill the previous TOY and claim their title?

congrats brosif!

My state has to fire 3,500 teachers by September so that really narrows down the competition out there

It is voted on by all the teachers and staff in the school. If the students were voting it would probably pretty much just be all the kids voting for their own teacher. I teach at an elementary school.

I showed up on voting day in all my gladiator gear but then I found out that it doesn't work like that.

Of course he did, how do you expect them to decide who is the best teacher without a fight to the death with the reigning champion?

I could very well be heading down that road in a few years. Do you still have a link to that blog?
