Very convenient, I use it pretty regularly.

Sorta... | Are you concerned about open ports on your PC, or open ports on your Router/Firewall (I certainly hope that you do not have your PC directly on the Internet, and that you are behind either a firewall or router/NAT device)? What is the impetus for asking this question?
If you are looking for the open ports on your computer, as someone mentioned earlier, open a command prompt and type netstat -a -o -n. You'll get an output similar to below (but with many more lines):
Proto Local Address Foreign Address State PID
TCP 0.0.0.0:135 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 1788
In this output, the 0.0.0.0:135, this means that your PC is Listening on TCP port 135 which is a Microsoft service, MS-RPC (meaning that port is open to accept connections from other computers), and the PID means the Process ID that is listening on this port. Basically, the executable that is responsible for accepting connections to this port. |

Does Vista not do this? Does uTorrent not work for you? |

I have my connection set right and it chose a random port and it says its closed. And I keep hitting random ports in the hopes of finding one open.

It will not affect your download speed (for the most part), but it will affect your upload speed. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
