OK guys, i've been posting around the wmp forums and microsoft websites to figure out what i'm doing, but no luck. So, i must turn to the best tech support i know of...tbot
For a new laptop, I converted all of my WMA's to mp3 to save space. However, only the name of the song carried over; all album/artist info is gone. The
songs are in folders by album and artist, but in WMP they are all under "unknown"
How do I get them back into proper organization? We are talking about 2000 songs; I do not have time to type in all of the information.
thanks,
-Windows 7

The program I use is Media Tagger 1.3.5. You can download it here ( Media Tagger 1.3.5 download) and it is freeware. |

You do have to interact with it, but its real easy to learn, and it save a bunch of time. It can also reorganize, move, and rename all your files to a specific pattern such as artist/album/file and rename the files such as "track number-title.mp3" if you needed it.
The demo version should do most of what you talking about, but there may be some advanced options that dont work.
DO NOT use it to sync your ipod if you have one. When it renames certain albums, it will name all the files the same name in different folders, and then when you pull them back off, you'll have 1 file left for your whole album. Other than this, it works great. a little buggy at times.
It will also download album artwork.
Its a decent player, but you could go back to wmp when it renames all your ide tags...

I LOVE the laptop itself, but i've been really frustrated with the software problems that are taking more than 2 weeks to get through. It seems to be ok now, though.
go figure, windows 7 works just fine, but everything else is screwy |
