Teen Drama

So I have come to the conclusion that teenhood is dramatic, no matter how much you try to avoid drama. Since most people on TB are from the stone age (it's a joke, please don't give me a timeout...) I was wondering if things like the following ever happened to them.

Recently my school has runa project where people from different courses join in a huge project. I am in sound and it is an all guys class so honnestly it's nice to work with other people for a change. I met this girl from animation and we became fast friends. Spent time with her outside the project as nothing more then friends, since she had a boyfriend and such. And recently one of my best friends who is in her class comes to tell to back off because her boyfriend is getting jealous? The hell? I mean I never a move, is she not allowed to have friends? Plus when her boyfriend is in the general area she is a completely different person, acting all serious. In reality she is a very playful and nice person. I just don't get it.

So yeah. Crap like that happen to the other TBers?

Buy a new bass. Problem solved.

Seriously, the boyfriend doesn't own her, he doesn't own you, and you're not responsible for their relationship.

While the teenage age may sometimes have something to do with behavior, in this case, things like this happen all the time.

Didn't Maki once post a legendary thread addressing such drama?

Anyone care to search it out? I'm too busy carving mammoth with a chunk of obsidian.

People are crap. Get used to it. Many adults don't outgrow teen drama. Get used to it.

Words of wisdom. May sound harsh, but yeah, get used to it.

When you grow up (stone age) you will understand but for now (little ameba) nothing makes sense except that sweet sweet feeling of sliding down the banister.

Don't let them kid you; this stuff will still happen when you are out of High School. Plenty of adult drama to be had. If the boyfriend is getting jealous, it could be a sign she likes you.

You never know!

Of course, it could just be the boyfriend is an easily threatened mama's boy caveman moron, which means, if you're her friend, you'll help her to see she is wasting herself on such a jackass.

The fact that boyfriends in high school are assholes is pretty much a fixed fact. High school kids are housebroken, but in many cases that's about it.

The OP is right that this age group tends to fill life with drama that's senseless and unnecessary. In his case, it's not the girl that's the problem, it's the boyfriend that's acting like a caveman. He doesn't know how to act around others and thinks he has to own people.

There's no easy solution. If the girl tells him to knock it off, that *might* help. There's nothing wrong with telling her what you observe and asking her to back him off.

Insecure and jealous guys exist throughout the entire age spectrum. Insecure and jealous gals also exist throughout the entire age spectrum.

Teenage girls learn very early on that when they want attention from a particular boy, all they need to do is make "friends" with another boy.

Females will exploit this tactic until their ovaries stop producing estrogen.

I've been there, with a gender swap on the situation. Their relationship is between the two of them, let them work it out. Just don't do anything you wouldn't want your girlfriend doing with some other guy.
