Television Setup Question

I have a standard-def TV in my bedroom and it has inputs for a component video cable. I have never seen such a thing. Is it normal for an older TV to have inputs for the red, blue, and green plugs? I thought component inputs were only on HDTVs.

I am going to buy a component Xbox 360 cable so I can get a better picture on my crappy television.

I had a couple Phillips TVs with component inputs before I made the switch over to HD. I was kinda surprised at how much of a difference using those inputs made, as the TVs really weren't built to take advantage of what the cables and 360 can support.
