But honestly, it isn't so much the rain that gets you, it is the fact that it is damp and gray more than other regions. Other cities get more total rainfall than this area, but I think this area leads the way for blah damp gray days. No worries, you get used to it.
Summer time in the Puget Sound is amazing. No humidity really, and the temps hang out around the mid to upper 80's normally with a spell here or there of 90's and maybe 100.
What is cool about this area is the proximity to so much. All of your mountains sports are covered within an hour drive, you can get to the ocean in a couple hours, the Puget Sound is only minutes away if you just want to be on the water, you can drive a couple hours east and be in desert like conditions. Canada is a couple hours north, Oregon is three hours south.
I worked for the same joint Ray does, but I quit a couple months ago. I have never had a problem getting a job either in IT or construction. There is work here, but you need to be on your A game to get it.
People are really earthy and all about saving the environment out here. Most people are friendly, but there are areas that are wary of outsiders coming in. As a younger person, you probably won't have to deal with that.
I'm pretty sure we don't have the crime issues like you do in KC. The town I live in is safe enough that my wife walks the dog outside at night, and I don't worry if she'll get assaulted.
Come on up and join us. I totally think you'll dig it. If nothing else, you got me and Ray to hang out with.
-Mike

If you go, make sure to see Tbird1958's band. They look like one hell of a good time!!

You should be able to get a lot of your questions answered by searching and asking questions.

When I look at the weather going on in other parts of the country (midwest and east) what rain we get isn't bad at all.
Soooooo much activity to do here to, and everything is juts a short drive away. |

Seattle is a little intimidating when you first get there and the traffic sucks. |

I'd agree with Mike's assesment of the weather and the area, nature here is beyond words in it's beauty with incredible variety in short distances. I'm very fond of the Olympic Peninsula, rock beaches, rain forests, alpine highlands and even arid deserts caused by rain shadow.
Seattle never lacks for fun and music either, plenty of places to go and really enjoy life - I could never live anywhere else
At the tip of the continental U.S.
The heart of the Olympic mountains, ancient forest, basically the last one in the U.S.
