I'm seriously considering signing up. My dad was in for 12 years and did 2 tours on the Enterprise.
Tell me your stories, good and bad.

Realistically, you should expect some wise-arsed replies.

You'll more than likely be working in a service, do you have a degree? My uncle had a degree in something involving meteorology, guess where he worked? In the Navy meteorology division. They put services above "working in the field".

The OT forum is filled with smart-@$$es and dumb-@$$es. You will also find people who will give you great adivce on an unending range of topics. Those people just haven't been to this tread yet. Relax and enjoy the ride. The wisdom you seek will be coming soon, I'm sure.

I am looking to get into the IT field, and the service is a great way to do it, they have the big boy toys.

There are a number of military guys on the forums. Syciprider has been in the Navy for a long time. I'm sure he will have some great input for you once he finds the thread.

And the VP reference was great
