Most of them do that here in the US unless you pay for a monthly text plan.

Really?

I think the main thing here is people think this is ALL incoming text messages.
I have a plan, and I'm not sure what's happening.

If this happens do you get the option of recieving the text or not? Like a reverse charge call.

When I was a Telus customer, they used to send me promotional text messages which they would charge me for. I got off that ship real fast. Rogers has some reasonable plans (as reasonable as mobile phone plans are, anyway) but their customer service is pretty abysmal. Lesser of two evils in this case, I suppose. Fido is owned by Rogers, so really you're getting the same treatment with them, only their customer support isn't 24 hours, last time I checked.

Good luck.

Call and find out. I don't have a plan because for Verizon Wireless it used to cost 10 cents to send and 2 cents to recieve. I never sent or recieved enough text messages in a month to justify having a text plan...then they raised the cost to 15 cents to send and 15 cents to receive in an effort to get more people to buy the monthly plan.. Now I refuse to do so just out of stubbornness because I hate that kind of manipulative junk.

How exactly do they get away with charging you for incoming and outgoing calls?

I think it's ironic that wireless phone providers charge for text messaging, when the bandwidth it requires is so minuscule compared to voice.
