This has been all over our news locally. A Nigerian Terrorist attempted to blow up an Air Bus flight from Amsterdam just as it was about to land at Detroit Metro. On our local News tonight the FBI confirmed that the explosive used was a very high grade PTFE and the bomber had more then enough quantity to bring down the plane with 288 passengers aboard. The bomber has claimed affiliation with AL Quada and claims the bomb materials which were mixed on the plane (evidently Amsterdam does not restrict liquids at Airport security). The bomb was supposedly acquired in Yemen. This could have blown up over my house depending on his flight path. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20091226/D9CR18JO0.html

His father was the former finance minister and just retired as the President of the First Bank of Nigeria. The bomber had three years of education at one of London's finest colleges. Why was he allowed to carry those substances on a plane? Why was someone on the no fly list not vetted at the airport? ***? However I hope this doesn't hamper international travel to and from the US.

According to reports, the terrorist tried to ignite the bomb after ~20 minutes of drying time [after leaving the bathroom and taking his seat]. Luckily, he didn't wait long enough set itself. He was using a larger amount than featured in the vid, which the video makers claimed cured for 1/2 hour.
So the explosives merely burned on his leg/groin. According to witnesses, he didn't cry out in pain. Why? Was he drugged? Was the drugging part of the plan? Did he rehearse while drugged? If so, and he could do everything according to plan, did he also have drinks at an airport bar or in the plane to further gain the guts needed for suicide? Did that screw up his timekeeping, or did he get cold feet -knowing the mixture would not blow up w/out sufficient time to dry- and light it anyway to be some sort of a failed hero that will live to preach jihad in the courtroom?
